Fuel Quality Information

APR Warranty

Only use fuel equal to or higher than specified. Never use a lower octane fuel. Always follow our fuel guide, especially with race fuel and Ethanol, where available. Dynos are for reference only. Results will vary. Contributing factors include the vehicle condition, vehicle setup, dyno type, dyno setup, environmental factors, fuel quality, and more. When describing fuels, the North American Region (NAR) uses the Anti-Knock Index (AKI), (RON+MON)/2, or (R+M)/2. The Rest of the World (ROW) uses RON. RON is Research Octane Number and MON is Motor Octane Number.

Please Note: Being as this is a naturally aspirated engine, it’s extremely sensitive to air density and temperature. This is most notable on a dyno where typical side cooling and airflow is not common and not representative of real world conditions. The vehicle will struggle to make power on the dyno without proper cooling, especially in less than ideal conditions. Porsche Motorsport suggests a 30C delta in ambient temperature corresponds to a loss of 35 HP, and each 5 HP will result in roughly .2 seconds a lap.

Description

Driving Modes

We’ve optimized fueling, ignition, cams, and more to achieve greater power and torque in all diving modes.

Features

The sport exhaust button now fully opens or closes the exhaust valves at the push of a button, without additional hardware or controllers. When closed, the flaps will open at wide open throttle when you’re above 4,500 RPM. We’ve raised the rev limiter to 8,300 RPM and increased the standing limiter in park and neutral to 6,500 RPM. Optionally we’ve enabled exhaust crackle found in other models while in park and neutral. Lastly we’ve corrected the factory HP and TQ values so the correct values are sent to the dash, though the dash will still cap the max amount without being reprogrammed.

Safety

With many customers tracking their Porsche, safety is paramount in our calibration strategy. Through the use of extreme datalogging equipment and additional sensors, thermocouples, and transducers, our engineers were able to fully optimize the ECU for advanced safety routines. This includes implementing several routines not enabled from the factory. The entire thermal management system is optimized to reduce engine bay temperature, and reduce intake air temperature, while also implementing advanced protection routines to prevent oil temperature from achieving unsafe levels. We’ve enabled new temperature protection routines to prevent the engine and cooling systems from overheating prematurely, which will be noticeable on the track. We’ve optimized the injection strategy to deliver a fatter torque curve and reduce the chances of knock, and torque dips. This is also achieved alongside per cylinder ignition advance and fuel trimming. Serious track enthusiasts should consider running race fuel, and adding additional coolant for maximum performance.

APR’s ECU Upgrades support various octanes both with or without any hardware modifications. Each stage is fully compatible with an upgraded intake, cooling, exhaust, or other minor bolt on modifications.

The APR Stage 1 ECU Upgrade is the first step towards making more power! This simple upgrade requires no engine hardware modifications, and produces 452-488 HP with 340-361 FT-LBS of torque, depending on octane. Gains as high as +58-94 WHP with +40-65 FT-LBS of torque are available throughout the power band. To get more power, the vehicle can be outfitted with an upgraded intake, cooling, or exhaust system.

APR Stage 1 is available for 91 AKI, 93 AKI, 100 AKI, 104 AKI, and E60-E85 Ethanol fuel grades in North America, and 95 RON, 98 RON, 104 RON, 108 RON and E60-E85 Ethanol fuel grades in the Rest of the World.
