Dinan | Stage 1 Performance Engine Software – BMW S63 (TU4) Engine

DME UNLOCK & FLASH NOTICE / HOW TO PURCHASE

2020 MY and prior (specifically up to a 06/2020 build date) S63(TU4) DME’s must be unlocked and bench flashed by Dinan. 2021 MY vehicles are not supported at this time. While dealer / retail unlock and flashing tools are in development, at present, two options are available:

OPTION 1: Visit a Dinan Dealer and purchase the Dinan Flash Software . They will remove and mail the DME’s to Dinan. We’ll unlock the DME’s, flash the software and ship them back. They’ll reinstall the DME’s.

OPTION 2: Purchase the tune. Send us your DME’s (label each appropriately). We’ll unlock it, install Dinan software, and ship them back. The unlock process is free. Ground shipping to the continental USA is free. Follow the steps below if this is the course you wish to pursue.

1. Purchase the tune by contacting Dinan via phone at 1-800-341-5480.
2. Fill out the unlock form and select BMW under the unlock type.
3. Mail your labelled DME’s to Dinan, 4800 U.S. Hwy 280 W, Opelika, AL 36801, USA, and include the last 7 of your VIN on the outside of the box along with a copy of the unlock form inside the box.

At no time during the unlocking process are the DME’s opened or physically modified. Once unlocked the DME’s can be flashed through normal dealer tools. If the DME’s are flashed back to stock, they will need to be unlocked again. Also, vehicle manufacturers issue many DME part numbers and revisions throughout their vehicle lineup. As such, some DMEs may be temporarily unavailable as new parts and/or revisions are released.

CODE CLEARING: Customers doing the DME removal/install process themselves should be aware that in the case a fault code occurs, having the ability to read and erase fault codes is crucial. Failure to be able to perform this task may result in a vehicle that is inoperable. Dinan will not cover any expenses related to not being able to clear codes (towing, equipment rental, etc.).

COMPATIBILITY NOTICE

BOX CODES: The S63 engine accounts for numerous unique box codes across various platforms. While Dinan has created files for many of these permutations, there is a chance you may have a box code that we have not seen. If this happens to be the case we will need to create a file for your vehicle. This process could add up to 7 days to the bench flash process although in most cases it will be turned around within 2 business days.

All info supplied in the table below is ‘at the crank’ for consistency when comparing data with BMW advertised numbers which are always reported at the crank. For data ‘at the wheels’ please refer to the appropriate chart from the dropdowns above.

Table also represents all possible ECU software options currently available for the selected platform. Some stages / variants may require additional hard parts to achieve advertised numbers. Please consult the appropriate stages product page for details.
