OVERVIEW

Purpose-Built Protection for High-Performance BMW Engines:

One of the most critical failure points on BMW’s N55 and S55 engines stems from the design of the factory 3-piece crank hub and the single crank bolt that secures it. Under normal driving, the system remains adequately clamped. But when subjected to higher torque loads, rapid RPM changes, repeated downshifts, or increased power levels from tuning, the factory crank bolt can begin to walk loose, causing the timing components to rotate out of alignment, causing the engine to fall out of mechanical timing. This can quickly lead to bent valves, piston-to-valve contact, or catastrophic engine failure.

The 034Motorsport Crank Bolt Capture Plate is a cost-effective line of defense that keeps your timing system locked in place and your engine protected, whether you're daily driving, canyon carving, or pushing big power.

Crafted from lightweight 6061-T6 billet aluminum, the Capture Plate is CNC-machined for precision fitment and anodized for long-lasting durability. Once installed, the plate completely surrounds the OE crank bolt head, mechanically preventing any possibility of rotation or loosening.

Its elongated mounting slots make it compatible with both the 034Motorsport 1-Piece Crank Hub and the factory BMW 3-piece crank hub, giving you a versatile, direct-fit solution for any N55 or S55 platform.

While the Crank Bolt Capture plate is a great option for preventing the crank bolt from loosening, under high-power applications or heavy abuse, there is still a chance that the factory crank hub can spin relative to the crank.
