OVERVIEW
Electrical control of the assigned engine vacuum circuit
Genuine VW/Audi 037-906-283-C switches the vacuum connection at the designated engine control circuit. In the listed intake-manifold applications, it allows the engine control system to operate the matching vacuum actuator. On the listed A8 4.2 FSI applications, the same factory valve controls vacuum to a secondary-air combination valve as N112 or N320; the system uses two solenoids, sold individually here.
The valve combines an electrical connector with small hose connections and a mounting feature. Correct hose routing and connector engagement are essential because similar-looking solenoids can serve different engine functions.
Technical details
- Complete factory number: 037-906-283-C.
- Factory specification: electrically operated vacuum control solenoid, factory number 037-906-283-C.
- Design: compact valve body with electrical connector, hose ports and mounting provision.
- Quantity supplied: one individual vacuum control solenoid; hoses, actuator, manifold and vehicle wiring are separate.
The same factory number has several catalog descriptions across applications. Select it for the original circuit identified by the vehicle's parts diagram and installed number, and preserve the original port-to-hose assignments. It is separate from the vacuum actuator and intake flap mechanism.
Common reasons to replace
- Electrical or vacuum testing confirms a failed valve.
- A hose port, mounting feature or electrical connector is damaged.
- The valve leaks or fails to switch correctly during the prescribed functional test.
Inspect the vacuum supply, hoses, wiring and actuator before replacing the solenoid. Intake control faults can also result from a hose leak, linkage problem or damaged manifold, and those faults require their own repair. For secondary-air flow faults, test the vacuum supply and switching valves and inspect the remaining secondary-air components before selecting parts; a low-flow fault alone does not establish that this solenoid has failed.
Vehicle fitment
The table identifies matching engine applications. Confirm the original full number and vacuum circuit before ordering.
| Vehicle | Model years | Engine | Configuration | Application restrictions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Volkswagen Tiguan | 2009–2017 | 2.0L turbo gasoline | First generation | Original intake-manifold vacuum control circuit using 037-906-283-C; match hose and connector arrangement. |
| Volkswagen GTI | 2010–2014 | 2.0L turbo gasoline | Mk6 | Original vacuum control valve arrangement using 037-906-283-C. |
| Volkswagen CC | 2009–2017 | 2.0L turbo gasoline | Sedan | Original vacuum control valve arrangement using 037-906-283-C. |
| Volkswagen Beetle | 2012–2013 | 2.0L turbo gasoline | Turbo / R-Line, matching original engine | Original vacuum control valve arrangement; match engine revision and full factory number. |
| Audi A8 / A8 L | 2010–2012 | 4.2L FSI V8 gasoline | quattro; original secondary-air vacuum circuit | Secondary-air combination-valve control, N112 / N320. Two solenoids serve the system; this listing supplies one. Confirm original valve and hose routing. |
Installation guidance
Follow the factory engine electrical and vacuum-system service procedure. Label the original hose positions before removal, install the valve in its assigned mounting and reconnect each line without kinking or stressing the ports.
Perform the specified actuator/output test and inspect all vacuum connections. Clear faults only after the repair and confirm that the assigned intake or secondary-air control system completes its normal operation.
Ordering information
