OVERVIEW
The 06E-103-472-N Genuine VW/Audi right engine valve cover encloses the valvetrain on the cylinders 1–3 bank of the listed V6 engines. It contains oil splash within the cylinder head and provides the sealing surface around the cover perimeter and ignition-coil openings. Renewing a damaged cover restores the correct housing shape and sealing interface instead of relying on a new gasket to compensate for a cracked or distorted component.

Common reasons to replace
Replace the cover when inspection finds cracks in the housing or breather connection, damaged mounting areas, or distortion of the sealing surface. Persistent oil leakage after a correctly installed gasket may indicate damage to the cover itself. Oil entering a spark-plug well can also call for inspection of the cover and its seals.
An oil smell, smoke from oil contacting a hot component, or a misfire associated with oil contamination can prompt diagnosis, but these symptoms do not identify the cover as the cause by themselves. Trace the leak and inspect the crankcase ventilation system; abnormal crankcase pressure can contribute to recurring oil leaks.
Service notes
Clean the cylinder-head sealing surface without allowing debris into the engine. Seat the gasket correctly, apply sealant only where the current repair procedure specifies, and follow the prescribed tightening sequence and torque. Inspect the breather hose and ignition components disturbed during removal. The opposite-bank cover, ignition coils and breather hoses are separate components.
