OVERVIEW
Restore controlled fuel-vapor purging
06E-906-517-A is the Genuine VW/Audi EVAP canister purge valve, commonly identified as the N80 valve. The electrically controlled valve meters stored fuel vapor from the evaporative-emissions system into the engine intake when commanded by the engine management system.
The valve's sealing and switching behavior matter to both vapor control and engine operation. An internally leaking valve can pass vapor or air when it should be closed; a valve that will not open can prevent the intended purge flow. Diagnosis should distinguish these faults from leaks elsewhere in the system.
Technical details
- Complete factory number: 06E-906-517-A.
- Factory specification: factory electrically controlled canister purge valve, revision A.
- Design: compact solenoid valve with hose-barb connections and molded electrical connector, as pictured.
- Quantity supplied: one individual purge valve.
This listing supplies the individual new valve. Charcoal canister, hoses, clamps, wiring and intake components are separate. Confirm the original valve number, connector and hose routing; this is not the crankcase ventilation valve.
Common reasons to replace
- Testing identifies an internal valve leak when the valve should be closed.
- The valve does not switch or pass the specified flow when commanded.
- An EVAP fault is traced to the purge valve after electrical and leak testing.
- The housing, hose connection or electrical connector is physically damaged.
A check-engine light, difficult starting after refueling or rough idle can have several causes. Read the fault codes and follow the vehicle's EVAP diagnostic procedure, including inspection of the hoses, wiring and fuel-vapor system. A fault code alone does not prove the purge valve has failed.
Vehicle fitment
The listed applications require the matching factory purge-valve configuration. Verify the original complete part number and hose connections; engine family and installed emissions equipment determine compatibility.

Installation guidance
Follow the vehicle repair procedure for the EVAP circuit. Work with the engine off and cool, release the electrical connector carefully and avoid damaging brittle hose ends. Install the valve in the specified flow direction and restore the original hose routing and supports.
Check all disturbed connections and perform the prescribed function and leak checks. Clear faults and verify repair completion using the relevant diagnostic procedure.
