OVERVIEW
Restore the matching crankcase breather connection
Genuine VW/Audi 06F-103-223-A joins the assigned sections of the crankcase ventilation circuit. The short hose connection must remain sealed while accommodating the original pipe and housing alignment.
Crankcase ventilation carries blow-by gases through the engine's intended ventilation path. A sound hose connection supports that path and prevents leakage at the joint; it is separate from the breather valve or complete oil separator.
Technical details
- Complete factory number: 06F-103-223-A.
- Factory specification: factory crankcase breather hose, number 06F-103-223-A.
- Design: short black hose coupling for the matching breather pipe connection.
- Quantity supplied: one individual breather hose; clips, other ventilation pipes and valve assemblies are separate.
The 2.0T FSI and later TSI engines do not share every ventilation component. Check the original engine revision and complete hose number, particularly in model years that include both engine families. Do not infer compatibility from displacement alone.
Common reasons to replace
- The original hose is split or cracked at its connection ends.
- Heat and oil exposure have hardened or distorted the hose.
- A leak test identifies a failed seal at this specific breather connection.
Inspect the adjacent pipes, retaining hardware and breather valve as part of diagnosis. Oil residue or an idle fault can come from another ventilation leak; replacing the coupling alone will not correct a defective pressure-control valve.
Vehicle fitment
Observe the FSI engine restriction in the table and match the original hose arrangement. This listing covers the individual connection hose.
| Vehicle | Model years | Engine | Configuration | Application restrictions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Audi A3 | 2008 | 2.0L turbo FSI gasoline, 06F | 8P FWD | Original 06F breather circuit; factory engine allocation TA2. Not the later chain-driven TSI hose arrangement. |
| Volkswagen GTI | 2006–2008 | 2.0L turbo FSI gasoline | Mk5 | FSI engine only; match original breather hose. Excludes later TSI revision. |
| Volkswagen Jetta GLI | 2006–2008 | 2.0L turbo FSI gasoline | Mk5 GLI | FSI engine only; match original breather hose. Excludes later TSI revision. |
| Volkswagen Golf R | 2012–2013 | 2.0L turbo FSI gasoline | Mk6 4MOTION | Matching original 06F breather hose connection. |
| Audi A3 | 2006–2007 | 2.0L turbo FSI gasoline; BPY | 8P Sportback; FWD | 2006 from VIN 8P-6-069001; matching FSI valve-cover breather connection. Excludes later chain-driven TSI. |

| Volkswagen Passat | 2007–2008 | 2.0L turbo FSI gasoline; BPY | Sedan; FWD | Sedan from VIN 3C-7-000001; BPY FSI only. Not later TSI. |
| Volkswagen Passat | 2007–2008 | 2.0L turbo FSI gasoline; BPY | Wagon; FWD | Original BPY FSI wagon breather connection only; not later TSI. |
| Audi TTS | 2009–2015 | 2.0L turbo FSI gasoline; CDMA | 8J Coupe / Roadster; quattro | CDMA only; production after October 24, 2008. Match original hose and factory engine code. |
Installation guidance
Follow the factory crankcase ventilation repair procedure with the engine cool. Remove the old hose without damaging the attached fittings, clean the mating areas as specified and fit the correct retaining hardware without twisting the connection.
Check hose seating and clearance and complete the prescribed ventilation leak and operating checks. Ensure that no line is stretched or pressed against a sharp or hot surface.
Ordering information
One individual Genuine VW/Audi 06F-103-223-A breather hose is supplied. Compare the complete original number and order other damaged ventilation components separately.
