OVERVIEW
Genuine VW/Audi turbocharger diverter valve, part number 06H-145-710-J. This original electrically controlled valve serves the specified turbocharger air-recirculation arrangement. It is the J revision identified by the part number pictured on the valve body.
Technical details
- Original part number: 06H-145-710-J / 06H145710J.
- Published design: revised diaphragm-based diverter valve.
- Pictured electrical connector, three-point mounting flange and perimeter sealing-ring arrangement.
- One valve supplied. Turbocharger, mounting hardware and other service parts are separate.
The diverter valve controls the assigned recirculation passage in the turbocharger system. When commanded by the engine management system, it provides a route for charge air in the operating conditions specified by the original control strategy. A correctly seated valve and intact seal are necessary for that passage to operate as designed.
This valve is separate from the wastegate mechanism and turbocharger boost-control hardware. It is an original service replacement for the matching installation, not a manual boost controller or a complete turbocharger assembly.
Common reasons to replace
Replacement may be appropriate after diagnosis confirms leakage through the valve, damage to its sealing arrangement, a failed diaphragm or an electrical or mechanical valve fault. A damaged connector or mounting body can also prevent correct installation or operation.
Loss of boost, abnormal air-release noise or inconsistent response can prompt inspection of the diverter valve. Those symptoms also have other possible causes, including charge-air leaks, wiring faults, boost-control problems and turbocharger damage. Confirm the fault rather than replacing the valve solely because a symptom is present.
Inspection during turbocharger or adjacent service can reveal damage at the mounting connection. A new valve cannot repair damaged turbocharger mounting threads, a cracked housing or a fault elsewhere in the charge-air system.
Installation and service notes
Follow the factory procedure for the exact engine and turbocharger. Confirm the original valve number, connector and mounting arrangement before disassembly. Turbocharger revisions and engine configurations can change valve requirements.
Allow the engine and turbocharger area to reach the service conditions prescribed by the procedure. Keep debris out of the exposed valve passage, and inspect the mating surface for damage before fitting the replacement.
Install the valve in its intended orientation without trapping the sealing ring. Confirm that the mounting flange seats normally and that the electrical connector and wiring are not strained or damaged.
Use the factory mounting fasteners and tightening requirements for this exact connection. Do not use the fasteners to force a misaligned valve into place. Replace additional hardware or sealing parts where required by the service procedure.
The published CBFA compatibility note identifies turbocharger 06J145713F or 06J145713FX for use with this valve. The confirmed applications below do not establish compatibility with every CBFA or other turbocharged engine. Check the actual turbocharger before extending an application.
After installation, complete the prescribed diagnostic and operating checks. Inspect for leakage at the serviced connection and investigate any continuing boost or electrical fault. Replacing the valve does not establish that the rest of the turbocharger or charge-air system is fault-free.
