OVERVIEW

Genuine VW/Audi spark plug, part number 06K-905-601-K. This spark plug carries ignition voltage from the coil into the combustion chamber, where a controlled spark ignites the compressed air-fuel mixture. Correct plug specification matters for reliable starting, stable combustion and the engine's intended ignition performance.

Technical details

  • Original part number: 06K-905-601-K / 06K905601K.
  • Threaded spark plug with ceramic insulator, hex installation section, center electrode and single ground electrode, as shown in the original photos.
  • Supplied individually. A listed four-cylinder engine uses four plugs; coils and installation tools are separate.
  • For the gasoline engine applications in the fitment table. Engine displacement alone does not establish compatibility.
  • Use the exact factory plug assignment. A different part-number suffix should not be treated as interchangeable without an approved replacement reference.

Common reasons to replace

Replace spark plugs at the vehicle's specified service interval or when inspection identifies electrode wear, fouling, a cracked insulator or damaged threads. Electrode wear can increase the voltage needed to fire the plug, and contamination can interfere with consistent ignition.

Hard starting, rough idle, hesitation or a cylinder misfire can warrant plug inspection. These symptoms can also come from the ignition coil, injector, wiring, air leaks or mechanical problems. Diagnose the fault before replacing parts; oil or fuel fouling requires attention to its underlying cause.

Installation and service notes

Work on a cool engine and clean debris from the plug wells before removal. Inspect coil boots and plug wells for moisture, oil and damage. Start each replacement by hand to avoid cross-threading the cylinder head, then tighten to the specification for the exact engine and plug.

Confirm the required gap and installation procedure in the vehicle's service information. Handle the firing tip carefully and do not force a gap tool against the center electrode. Use thread treatments only when the applicable service instructions require them. Refit the coils and connectors securely and check operation after service.
