OVERVIEW
Meter oil to the original camshaft timing adjuster
06L-109-257-F is the Genuine VW/Audi threaded oil control valve for the specified variable valve timing assemblies. It meters oil within the assigned camshaft-adjuster circuit to support the commanded timing adjustment.
The valve must match the engine's camshaft bracket and adjuster system. Contamination, wear or mechanical damage can interfere with its movement, but a timing fault can also originate elsewhere in the oil supply or timing mechanism.
Technical details
- Complete factory number: 06L-109-257-F.
- Factory specification: camshaft adjuster oil control valve, complete revision F.
- Design: threaded metal spool-valve body installed in the assigned camshaft bracket.
- Quantity supplied: one individual oil control valve.
This listing supplies one valve. The separate electromagnetic actuator, camshaft bridge or bracket, adjuster, timing chain, seals and installation tools are not included. Confirm the number on the original component before ordering.
Common reasons to replace
- Diagnosis confirms that the valve is sticking or restricted.
- The valve is damaged during an approved timing-system repair.
- Wear prevents the valve from controlling oil flow as intended.
- The original valve fails the engine-specific inspection procedure.
Check engine oil condition, correct oil specification and oil pressure as directed. Inspect the associated actuator, oil passages and mechanical timing components. A fault code or rough-running symptom alone does not identify this valve as the cause.
Vehicle fitment
The confirmed applications below include production restrictions. Match the original engine and valve design; later revisions and neighboring valve part numbers can have different applications.
| Vehicle | Model years | Engine | Configuration | Application restrictions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Audi A3 | 2015 | 1.8L TFSI gasoline; PR DF4 | Front-wheel-drive sedan or cabriolet | Factory valve entry from April 9, 2014 production; original matching camshaft bracket and adjuster design. Confirm complete part number. |
| Audi A6 | 2016 | 2.0L TFSI gasoline | Premium or Premium Plus sedan; original matching valve assembly | Production through June 13, 2016. Verify original engine, valve and camshaft-bracket configuration; not all 2.0L timing valves interchange. |
Installation guidance
Follow the engine-specific procedure and use the prescribed valve-removal tool. Observe the specified thread direction, torque and cleanliness requirements. Renew required seals and avoid introducing debris into the camshaft bracket.
Complete any required diagnostic checks and verify commanded versus actual camshaft adjustment. Check the serviced area for leaks and resolve any remaining timing or oil-pressure faults.
