OVERVIEW
Retain the brake hose at its original bracket
191-611-715 is the Genuine VW/Audi spring clip for the specified brake-hose bracket attachments. The curved metal clip engages the fitting's retaining groove and bracket to keep the hose end located as designed.
Correct hose retention helps prevent unwanted movement at the rigid-line connection. The clip is a mechanical retainer; hydraulic sealing occurs at the brake-line fitting and must be inspected separately.
Technical details
- Complete factory number: 191-611-715.
- Factory specification: individual factory brake hydraulic hose locking clip.
- Design: curved metal spring retainer with open engagement profile.
- Quantity supplied: one individual retaining clip.
One clip is supplied. Brake hose, rigid line, mounting bracket, caliper, brake fluid and other hardware are separate. This is not a brake-pad anti-rattle spring or a full axle hardware kit.
Common reasons to replace
- The original clip is missing after brake-hose service.
- The retaining spring is bent or has lost its proper engagement.
- Corrosion or damage prevents secure seating.
- The clip is damaged during the prescribed removal procedure.
Inspect the bracket, hose-end groove and hose routing. Repair damaged brackets and replace damaged hoses as required. A new clip must not be used to compensate for an incorrect hose fitting or a hydraulic leak.
Vehicle fitment
The table identifies confirmed original retainer applications. Compare the exact fitting and bracket position before ordering; nearby brake hardware may use different retainers.
| Vehicle | Model years | Engine | Configuration | Application restrictions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Volkswagen GTI | 2015 | 2.0L turbocharged gasoline | Mk7 hatchback; with or without Performance brakes | Assigned front/rear brake-hose retainer positions, left/right. Confirm bracket and hose-end groove; not a caliper pad spring. |
| Volkswagen Arteon | 2023 | 2.0L turbocharged gasoline | SE R-Line | Assigned brake hydraulic hose locking clip position; compare original bracket and hose fitting. |
Installation guidance
Follow the vehicle-specific brake-hose procedure. Seat the hose fitting in its original bracket and install the clip fully in the retaining groove without twisting the hose. Use the prescribed hydraulic connection and bleeding procedure if the circuit has been opened.
Verify hose retention and routing at the required steering and suspension positions. Perform the prescribed leak, pedal and braking checks before operating the vehicle.
