OVERVIEW
Secure retention at the battery base
The Genuine VW/Audi 1J0-803-219 clamp holds the lower battery mounting foot against its tray. Correct retention keeps the battery from shifting during cornering, braking and normal road vibration.
This compact metal retainer fits the factory tray arrangement identified in the table below. Battery security depends on a sound tray, the correct battery base profile and suitable fastening hardware working together.
Technical details
- Complete factory number: 1J0-803-219.
- Factory specification: lower battery retaining clamp, factory number 1J0-803-219.
- Design: formed metal plate with a central fastening hole and shaped retaining edge.
- Quantity supplied: one individual battery hold down clamp; battery, tray and fastening bolt are separate.
The clamp engages the battery's lower mounting ledge. A similar outline does not establish compatibility with a different tray or battery case, and tightening the fastener cannot compensate for a battery with the wrong base dimensions.
Common reasons to replace
- The original clamp is missing after battery service.
- Corrosion or bending prevents the retaining edge from seating correctly.
- The fastening hole is damaged or the clamp no longer holds the battery securely.
Check the tray for cracks and corrosion and inspect the bolt and threaded mounting point. Battery movement can also result from a damaged tray or an unsuitable replacement battery, so identify the cause before replacing the clamp.
