OVERVIEW
Genuine VW/Audi fuel filter with pressure regulator, part number 1K0-201-051-K. This external gasoline fuel filter combines filtration with a built-in 6.6-bar pressure regulator. It serves the low-pressure fuel supply circuit on the matching vehicle configurations, helping deliver filtered fuel at the specified supply pressure.
Technical details
- Original part number: 1K0-201-051-K / 1K0201051K.
- Integrated pressure regulator: 6.6 bar. This is a low-pressure supply specification, not the direct-injection fuel rail pressure.
- Metal canister with three hose connections, shown capped in the product photo.
- Catalog replacement for 1K0-201-051-C, subject to the vehicle's current parts assignment.
- Supplied as one new filter. Confirm any separately required mounting and connection hardware for the repair.
Common reasons to replace
Replacement may be needed at the vehicle's specified maintenance interval, after confirmed filter restriction or when a damaged canister or connection compromises the assembly. A restricted fuel supply can contribute to difficult starting, hesitation or a loss of performance under load, while a regulator fault can cause an incorrect low-pressure supply reading.
These symptoms also occur with fuel-pump, electrical, injector and other faults. Check fuel supply pressure and delivery using the appropriate diagnostic procedure before attributing a drivability problem to the filter. Replacing the filter will not correct contamination remaining in the tank, a weak pump or damaged fuel lines.
Installation and service notes
Verify the VIN-specific part assignment and regulator specification before ordering. Similar canisters with a different pressure setting are not interchangeable simply because their hose connections look alike. Match the marked connection routing and installed orientation, and avoid twisting or forcing the quick-connect fittings.
Relieve fuel-system pressure according to the repair manual before disconnecting the filter. Inspect the mounting support, hose fittings and retaining clips, then check for leaks after installation using the specified priming and inspection procedure. Follow the maintenance schedule for the exact engine and model year; service intervals are not universal across the vehicles below.
