OVERVIEW
Support smooth movement at the original front strut mount
1K0-412-249-B is the Genuine VW/Audi front strut mount bearing for the specified original suspension assembly. The thrust bearing supports the intended relative movement at the top of the strut as the steering and suspension operate.
A worn or binding bearing can make the upper spring and strut assembly move unevenly during steering. Correct diagnosis separates bearing noise or stiffness from worn mounts, spring damage, ball joints and other steering or suspension faults.
Technical details
- Complete factory number: 1K0-412-249-B.
- Factory specification: factory front upper strut thrust bearing, revision B.
- Design: annular strut bearing with metal outer seat and molded inner housing, as pictured.
- Quantity supplied: one individual strut bearing.
One individual bearing is supplied. Rubber mount, spring, strut, bump stop, dust boot and fasteners are separate. Inspect the related upper-mount components and confirm the original bearing configuration.
Common reasons to replace
- The bearing binds or feels rough during inspection.
- Diagnosis identifies noise from the upper strut bearing during steering.
- The bearing housing or seating surface is damaged.
- The bearing requires renewal during an upper strut repair under the applicable procedure.
Inspect the rubber mount, spring seating surfaces, strut and related hardware. A new bearing cannot correct a broken spring, deteriorated mount or damaged strut. Verify the source of steering noise before replacement.
Vehicle fitment
Use at the original front upper strut bearing position on the listed configuration. Confirm the complete part number and installed suspension equipment before ordering.
| Vehicle | Model years | Engine | Configuration | Application restrictions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Volkswagen Jetta | 2015 | 1.8L or 2.0L turbocharged gasoline; 2.0L gasoline; 2.0L TDI; 1.4L Hybrid | Mk6 sedan; original front strut assembly | Front upper strut bearing position with original 1K0-412-249-B specification; verify suspension equipment and original bearing. |
Installation guidance
Follow the vehicle-specific strut service procedure and use the prescribed spring-compression equipment. Keep the spring controlled throughout disassembly and assembly, align the bearing and spring seat correctly and follow all fastener renewal and tightening requirements.
Confirm correct spring seating, free steering movement and secure assembly. Perform any required alignment and suspension checks after the repair.
