OVERVIEW
Seal the assigned refrigerant-line connection
3D0-260-749-C is the Genuine VW/Audi O-ring for the specified air conditioning line connections. Its nominal 9.5 × 2.5 mm size must match the assigned joint; other fittings on the same system can require different seals.
A correctly installed O-ring seals the mating surfaces of the refrigerant connection. Reusing a damaged or flattened seal can allow a leak after service, while an incorrectly sized seal may be pinched or fail to seat properly.
Technical details
- Complete factory number: 3D0-260-749-C.
- Factory specification: nominal 9.5 × 2.5 mm A/C line O-ring.
- Design: burgundy circular elastomer sealing ring, as pictured.
- Quantity supplied: one individual O-ring.
One individual dry seal is supplied. This is not a full vehicle seal kit. Refrigerant, lubricant, lines, valves, compressor and condenser are separate. The nominal sealing dimensions describe the part and are not shipping dimensions.
Common reasons to replace
- The prescribed repair procedure requires a new seal when the joint is opened.
- A leak is confirmed at this specific connection.
- The old ring is flattened, nicked, torn or otherwise damaged.
- The seal is lost or contaminated during line service.
Confirm the leaking joint and inspect both mating surfaces for damage or corrosion. A new seal will not correct a cracked line, damaged fitting or distorted sealing seat. Identify the refrigerant and correct sealing position before ordering.
Vehicle fitment
The table identifies confirmed connection positions. Model fitment alone does not establish that every A/C joint uses this size. Compare the original seal and factory line diagram.
| Vehicle | Model years | Engine | Configuration | Application restrictions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Volkswagen Jetta | 2011 | 2.0L or 2.5L gasoline; 2.0L TDI | Sedan | Lower liquid-line O-ring position only; match the connection and original seal size. |
| Volkswagen Jetta | 2015 | 2.0L gasoline or 2.0L TDI | Sedan | Lower liquid-line O-ring position for the listed engines; other joints use different seals. |
| Volkswagen Jetta | 2016 | 1.4L or 1.8L turbocharged gasoline; 2.0L turbocharged GLI; 1.4L Hybrid | Sedan | Lower liquid-line O-ring at the assigned connection. Verify hybrid/non-hybrid line configuration and seal size. |
| Volkswagen Jetta | 2017 | 1.4L or 1.8L turbocharged gasoline; 2.0L turbocharged GLI | Sedan | Assigned lower liquid-line O-ring position; not the upper connection seal. |
| Volkswagen GTI | 2015 | 2.0L turbocharged gasoline | Mk7 hatchback | Assigned A/C line connection at condenser; verify the original 9.5 × 2.5 mm seal position. |
Installation guidance
Recover the refrigerant using equipment appropriate to the system before disconnecting the line. Clean the mating surfaces, apply only the lubricant specified by the repair procedure and fit the new ring without twisting or stretching it unnecessarily. Tighten the connection to its prescribed specification.
Perform the required leak test, evacuation and recharge. Confirm that the serviced connection remains sealed and the air conditioning operates correctly.
