OVERVIEW
Wear monitoring for the matching ceramic brake pads
Genuine VW/Audi 4S0-615-437-B provides the wear contact for the designated ceramic brake pad installation. Its lead and connector link the pad-mounted contact to the vehicle's wear-monitoring circuit.
The sensor must match the brake equipment, installation side and original cable route. The B and D versions are separate references, and the sensor specified for an iron-rotor brake installation may differ.
Technical details
- Complete factory number: 4S0-615-437-B.
- Factory specification: ceramic brake pad wear sensor, factory number 4S0-615-437-B.
- Design: pad contact with an insulated lead, protective covering and vehicle-side connector.
- Quantity supplied: one individual brake pad wear sensor; brake pads, clips, caliper and rotor are separate.
Sensor position can vary with the brake assembly and production revision. Compare the full original number, contact shape and routing before installation. A sensor is a monitoring component and does not measure remaining pad thickness continuously or replace physical brake inspection.
Common reasons to replace
- The wear contact has been consumed by pad wear.
- The contact, lead or connector is damaged during brake service.
- Circuit testing confirms an open or intermittent fault in the sensor assembly.
Inspect pad thickness and condition on both sides of the axle and check the wiring connection. A warning can also result from a damaged vehicle harness, so verify the circuit rather than replacing the sensor solely to clear a warning.
Vehicle fitment
Use the ceramic-brake restriction and assigned sensor position below. Confirm the original B suffix and production arrangement before ordering.
| Vehicle | Model years | Engine | Configuration | Application restrictions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Audi R8 | 2017–2023 | 5.2L V10 gasoline | Coupe / Spyder, matching ceramic brake equipment | Front/right assigned sensor position with ceramic composite brakes; confirm B suffix and original sensor routing, including production split. |
Installation guidance
Follow the factory ceramic-brake pad service procedure. Seat the contact correctly and route the lead through all specified guides, leaving appropriate movement clearance without allowing contact with the rotating disc or wheel.
Connect the sensor securely, check the lead throughout steering and suspension movement where applicable and complete the required brake warning-system checks. Inspect the brake assembly before returning the vehicle to service.
Ordering information
One individual Genuine VW/Audi 4S0-615-437-B sensor is supplied. Match the original sensor number and order any other side or position separately.
