Genuine VW/Audi Right Exterior Door Handle Cover Gasket
5G0-837-088-B is the genuine right-side underlay used beneath the assigned exterior door handle cover or cap. Its shaped opening and retaining features match the original cover arrangement. It restores the intended interface between the cover and its mounting area.
This listing supplies one individual gasket/underlay, as shown in the original photograph. It is the rearward cover packing within the handle arrangement; that position is different from the separate forward pad beneath the main handle. A right front or right rear door can use this same underlay where the factory catalog assigns it.

Common reasons to replace
Replace the underlay when it is torn, cracked, distorted, missing or damaged during handle or cover removal. Broken retaining features or an incorrectly fitted pad can prevent the cover from seating as intended. Restoring the correct underlay can be part of a handle or cover repair.
Inspect the cover, handle, mounting surfaces and related retainers at the same time. A broken handle mechanism, damaged lock cylinder or faulty latch needs its own repair. Water entering the cabin can also originate at the window, door membrane, drains or other seals; this small cover gasket does not correct those separate faults.

Installation and service guidance
Follow the factory procedure for accessing the assigned handle cover and retain its correct mounting position. Protect surrounding paint and trim. Where a lock cylinder, keyless-entry component or wiring is involved, follow the separate access and electrical instructions for that equipment.
Remove the damaged underlay and clean the seating area without damaging paint or the cover. Compare the replacement’s shape, opening and retaining features to the original assignment. Fit the correct right-side gasket in its intended orientation; do not substitute the left-side part or the separate forward handle pad.
Refit the cover and any disturbed hardware according to the factory procedure. Check that the cover seats evenly and that the handle, lock and related functions operate correctly. Do not use unapproved sealant or altered mounting hardware to compensate for a damaged or incompatible cover.
