Genuine VW/Audi five-pin flat contact housing
6N0-972-705 is the individual five-position connector housing for its assigned electrical connection. The table below includes the original 2011 Touareg tailgate-opening control-unit connection and additional confirmed vehicle configurations using this exact housing. The circuit and fitted equipment must be identified on the actual vehicle.
The housing is supplied as a bare component. Electrical contacts, repair wires, the vehicle harness and connected control components are separate. Five positions describe the housing layout and do not establish the circuit pinout or the number of populated contacts in every installation.

Common reasons to replace
- The original housing latch is broken.
- The housing body or contact-retention area is damaged.
- The connector no longer seats securely because its housing is distorted.
- A diagnosed harness repair requires replacement of the original housing.
A replacement housing does not repair damaged contacts, broken wires or a failed control unit. Inspect the complete connection and determine which separate repair components are required. Do not assume that a tailgate or other electrical operating fault is caused by the housing without checking the actual circuit.

Installation and service guidance
Follow the factory electrical isolation and connector-repair procedure. Record the original contact positions before releasing the housing and use the prescribed terminal-removal tools. Avoid pulling on the wires to release a locked contact.
Inspect the contacts and wire ends, replacing separately specified repair components when required. Transfer or install the correct contacts according to the vehicle wiring diagram and verify that each one is retained in its assigned cavity.
