OVERVIEW
Genuine VW/Audi Left Rear Upper Door Hinge
7L0-833-401-C is the genuine hinge used at the assigned upper attachment of the left rear door. Its mounting faces connect the door and body, while its pivot allows the door to move along the original hinge path. Match the rear door position, installation side and hinge number before ordering.
This listing supplies one individual hinge, as shown in the original product photograph. The lower hinge, separate mounting hardware, hinge cap, door check, latch and door are separate components. This is compact replacement hinge hardware.

Upper and lower hinges can differ, and the opposite side uses its own hinge number. The front door arrangement can also require different parts. Compare the original mounting pattern and hinge assignment rather than choosing a hinge only because it looks similar.
Common reasons to replace
Replace a hinge when the pivot has excessive wear, the hinge is bent, it binds or its mounting faces have been damaged. A worn or distorted hinge can contribute to a sagging door, irregular gaps, poor closure or unwanted movement at the attachment. Hinge replacement can also be required when the component is damaged during a body repair.
Inspect both rear door hinges, the mounting points, latch, striker and door check before deciding which parts to replace. A door check fault, loose fastener, damaged body attachment or incorrectly adjusted striker requires its own correction. A new upper hinge alone does not repair a distorted door or damaged body structure.

Installation and service guidance
Follow the factory body repair procedure and support the rear door securely before loosening hinge attachments. Protect surrounding paint, glass and trim. Record the original hinge and door position so the specified alignment procedure can be completed after installation.
Inspect the door and body attachment surfaces for damage. Fit the correct left upper hinge and the separately specified hardware. Renew fasteners where the factory procedure requires it and preserve any specified sealing or corrosion protection at disturbed attachments.
Align the door and tighten the hardware in the required sequence and to the factory values. Check panel gaps, clearance, latch engagement and hinge movement through the normal operating range. Verify that any disturbed wiring, seals or trim are correctly installed.
This hinge restores the assigned mechanical pivot and attachment. It does not replace a failed door check, latch or lower hinge.
