OVERVIEW
Genuine VW/Audi wiring harness cable clamp
8D0-971-847-A is the original cable clamp used at the assigned wiring-harness attachment points. It holds the corresponding cable bundle at its prescribed support, helping maintain the factory route and clearance from adjacent components.
The component is sold as one individual clamp. Some original catalogs translate its name as a cable terminal, but this listing is for the mechanical cable-retaining clamp shown in the archive photo. It is not a wire contact, connector housing or electrical repair pigtail.
Technical details and supplied quantity
- Manufacturer part number: 8D0-971-847-A; compact reference 8D0971847A.
- Brand: Genuine VW/Audi.
- Component: cable clamp for the assigned wiring-harness mounting point.
- Fitment depends on the original cable route, receiving support and full part-number revision.
- Quantity: one individual clamp. Wiring, connector housings, other guides and support components are separate.
Several different retainers can appear in one harness assembly. Match the original clamp profile and mounting interface rather than choosing by vehicle model alone. A cable clamp does not make an electrical connection or seal a hose, and it should not be substituted for a different retaining clip or fluid-line fitting.
Common reasons to replace
- The clamp is missing after engine, fan-harness or adjacent component service.
- The retaining feature is damaged and the original cable route cannot be restored.
- The clamp no longer holds the assigned cable bundle securely.
- Removal has damaged the clamp and the prescribed attachment needs renewal.
Inspect the retained wiring whenever a clamp is missing or loose. Excess movement can allow rubbing against nearby components, but replacing the clamp will not repair an already damaged conductor or connector. Repair any wiring damage using the correct service components and restore all separately specified supports.
Vehicle fitment
The table identifies confirmed original attachment arrangements. Use the correct engine and body configuration, and match the existing cable support before ordering. The same part can have different assigned positions in different vehicles.

Installation and service guidance
Follow the vehicle-specific procedure for the wiring assembly being serviced. Isolate the affected circuit when required and support the harness while removing adjacent components. Avoid pulling on wires or using a connector body to move the cable bundle.
Inspect the receiving support and install the clamp in its assigned position. Restore the original routing so the harness has the specified clearance and is not twisted, stretched or pinched. Confirm that adjacent guides and protective components are also secured.
After reassembly, verify that the harness remains retained through the expected movement of surrounding components. Complete any prescribed circuit or operational checks and address existing wiring faults separately.
