OVERVIEW

Genuine VW/Audi Upper Brake Vacuum Pump Mounting Insulator

8E0-614-177-B is the genuine upper insulator used at assigned electric brake vacuum-pump mounting points. Its molded profile cushions the original pump-to-bracket attachment and supports the specified mounting arrangement. It is a mechanical isolation component rather than a vacuum storage or fluid-transfer component.

One individual upper mounting insulator is supplied per purchased unit, as shown in the original photograph. The electric pump, bracket, retainer and separate lower insulator are sold separately. The factory lower component, 8E0-614-177-A, has a different mounting role.

Technical details

  • OEM number: 8E0-614-177-B / 8E0614177B.
  • Position in the confirmed applications: Upper electric brake vacuum-pump mounting insulator.
  • Design: Molded resilient mounting profile with central attachment opening.
  • Function: Cushions and supports the original bracket attachment.
  • Quantity: One individual insulator per purchased unit.
  • Confirmed replaced reference: 4D0-614-177-E where the factory catalog specifies this replacement.

The part is also cataloged as a bracket grommet or stop buffer in other factory assemblies. Those applications require their own position and bracket confirmation. Do not substitute the separate lower insulator or assume every brake-system mounting point uses the same profile.

Common reasons to replace

Replace the insulator if it is split, hardened, distorted, compressed or missing, or if it can no longer support the original mounting arrangement. Deterioration or damage during pump removal can require replacement when the assembly is serviced.

A damaged mount can contribute to movement or noise at the pump attachment. Inspect the bracket, retainer, other insulators and pump mounting features before installing a new part. A damaged bracket or an incorrectly retained pump requires separate correction.

Brake-assist concerns also require inspection of the pump, electrical control and vacuum circuit under the applicable diagnostic procedure. Replacing this mounting insulator does not repair a failed pump or a leaking vacuum hose.

Fitment

The table identifies confirmed original upper electric brake vacuum-pump mounting applications. Match the installed bracket, mounting position and complete part assignment before ordering.

Installation and service guidance

Follow the factory brake vacuum-pump removal and installation procedure. Support the pump assembly and protect the adjacent wiring and vacuum lines while its mounting hardware is released.

Inspect the bracket and mounting surfaces, then install the correct upper insulator in its prescribed orientation. Fit the separately specified lower insulator and retaining hardware where required. Do not preload the assembly by forcing a distorted bracket or substituting the wrong mounting profile.

Reassemble the attachment in the factory sequence and to the specified values. Restore the original wiring and hose routing, then verify mounting security and perform the prescribed pump and brake-assist checks. Investigate any remaining noise, movement or vacuum-system fault separately.
