OVERVIEW
Genuine VW/Audi 8E0-972-112-A is an individual black twelve-position flat-contact housing with a contact-locking mechanism. It renews the connector body at the original electrical connection assigned this exact part number. Confirmed applications include the specified A3 external-audio-source interface and CC powered-seat adjustment switch circuits.
Technical details and what is included
- Factory part number: 8E0-972-112-A / 8E0972112A.
- Housing layout: twelve contact positions; black.
- Contact-locking mechanism supports retention of the specified terminal system.
- Quantity supplied: one individual bare housing.
- Contacts, repair wires, seals and connected audio or seat components are separately specified.
The position count describes the connector layout; it does not mean every cavity is populated in every application. Housing color and pin count alone do not establish compatibility. Compare the original part number, keying, terminal arrangement and mating profile before ordering. Brown housings, other suffixes and different seat-module connectors must be checked separately.
Common reasons to replace
- A cracked or broken connector body prevents correct attachment.
- A damaged locking feature no longer secures the connector as intended.
- A damaged contact-retention location prevents the prescribed terminal from seating correctly.
- The housing is damaged during harness service or a diagnosed connector repair.
Inspect the terminals, wire ends and mating component independently. A new housing does not restore corroded contacts, repair broken wiring or correct an internal audio-interface or seat-switch fault. Identify the affected circuit and repair any separately damaged components using the factory procedure.
Vehicle fitment
The table identifies confirmed original connector applications. Equipment and circuit restrictions apply to every row; this housing is not a universal twelve-pin adapter.
| Vehicle | Model years | Engine | Configuration | Application restrictions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Audi A3 | 2011 | 2.0L TFSI gasoline inline-four | 8P Sportback; front-wheel drive or quattro; Original factory transmission; connector circuit and equipment determine fitment | Original external-audio-source interface connection PR UF2 with the assigned black twelve-position housing. Confirm the post-change original connector; earlier housing revisions are separate. Match the original 8E0972112A housing, keying, mating connector and terminal system. One bare housing supplied; contacts, repair wires and connected components are separate. |
| Audi A3 | 2011 | 2.0L TDI diesel inline-four | 8P Sportback; front-wheel drive; Original factory transmission; connector circuit and equipment determine fitment | Original external-audio-source interface connection PR UF2 with the assigned black twelve-position housing. Confirm the post-change original connector; earlier housing revisions are separate. Match the original 8E0972112A housing, keying, mating connector and terminal system. One bare housing supplied; contacts, repair wires and connected components are separate. |
| Volkswagen CC | 2011 | 2.0L TSI gasoline inline-four | Sedan; front-wheel drive; Original factory transmission; connector circuit and equipment determine fitment | Original powered-seat adjustment switch connection assigned this twelve-position black housing. Does not establish fitment to the separate seat-frame control-unit or occupant-detection connector. Match the original 8E0972112A housing, keying, mating connector and terminal system. One bare housing supplied; contacts, repair wires and connected components are separate. |
| Volkswagen CC | 2011 | 3.6L FSI gasoline VR6 | Sedan; 4Motion; Original factory transmission; connector circuit and equipment determine fitment | Original powered-seat adjustment switch connection assigned this twelve-position black housing. Does not establish fitment to the separate seat-frame control-unit or occupant-detection connector. Match the original 8E0972112A housing, keying, mating connector and terminal system. One bare housing supplied; contacts, repair wires and connected components are separate. |
Installation and service guidance
Follow the factory electrical isolation and connector-repair procedure for the affected vehicle and circuit. Record each original contact position and housing orientation before dismantling. Use the prescribed terminal-release tool and avoid pulling locked terminals out by their wires.
Transfer only serviceable contacts of the specified terminal system, renewing repair wires or separately specified seals when required. Seat the contacts fully and engage the contact-locking mechanism as directed in the repair information. Reconnect the matching component, restore the original harness route without strain and perform the prescribed circuit checks after assembly.
