OVERVIEW
Genuine self-locking attachment screw
The N-014-129-13 Genuine VW/Audi screw is used at the original power-window regulator and relay-box mounting connections specified in the fitment table. It is an individual replacement for the assigned original fastener.
This M5 × 10 screw has the factory self-locking design and Phillips drive. A similarly sized countersunk window-crank screw is a different part. Match the complete number, head seating arrangement and intended joint rather than choosing by thread size alone.
Technical details
- Complete factory number: N-014-129-13.
- Nominal factory specification: M5 × 10.
- Design: Phillips-drive oval-head self-locking screw.
- Quantity supplied: one individual bolt.
The nominal specification describes the fastener itself rather than packaged shipping dimensions. Match the complete factory number, original attachment point and head seating arrangement. Similar-looking hardware elsewhere in the same assembly can differ in length, thread size or bearing surface.
Common reasons to replace
- A bolt is missing after component removal or previous service.
- The drive head is damaged or rounded.
- The threads have been crossed, stripped or otherwise damaged.
- The bolt is bent or its bearing surface no longer seats correctly.
- A previous repair used incorrect substitute hardware.
Inspect the regulator bracket or relay-box mounting point and receiving thread before fitting replacement hardware. A new screw cannot repair a cracked bracket or stripped receiver. Diagnose window operation and electrical faults separately from the mounting hardware.
Vehicle fitment
The table distinguishes the relay-box application from the four-door Golf rear power-window connection. Factory power-window equipment is required for the Golf row.
| Vehicle | Model years | Engine | Configuration | Application restrictions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Volkswagen Vanagon | 1988–1991 | 2.1L water-cooled gasoline flat-four | T3 van; original relay-box attachment; Body-mounted electrical hardware; match original relay box | Assigned relay-box mounting screw, catalog position 25. This screw is not a relay, fuse or electrical terminal. |
| Volkswagen Golf | 1988 | 1.8L gasoline inline-four | Mk2 FOUR-DOOR hatchback; original rear power-window regulator installation; Body-mounted window hardware; original power-window equipment required | Assigned rear power-window regulator attachment. Not the nearby countersunk manual-window-crank screw, despite same nominal M5×10 size. |
Installation guidance
Follow the factory procedure for the specific electrical or window-regulator component. Secure and support the glass when required during regulator service, and follow the prescribed electrical isolation steps when accessing the relay box.
Align the mating components before engaging the bolt, start the threads carefully and use the correct tool for the actual drive. Follow the factory tightening instruction and sequence for the exact connection. Do not transfer torque values between different applications that happen to use the same bolt number.
Restore all disturbed electrical connections, covers and moisture barriers as prescribed. Verify the serviced component is retained correctly and carry out the relevant window or electrical operating checks.
Ordering information
Supplied as one genuine screw. Window regulator, motor, relay box, relays, brackets and a complete hardware kit are not included. Confirm the number needed for the specific repair.
