OVERVIEW
Genuine manual window-crank attachment hardware
The N-014-264-3 Genuine VW/Audi screw retains the assigned original manual window crank on the Volkswagen configurations listed below. Its oval countersunk head seats in the matching crank fastening arrangement.
This is a small threaded retaining screw, not a complete crank or regulator. Correct seating depends on the original crank and shaft. A different M5 screw with an incompatible head profile can interfere with the intended fit of the crank and cover.
Technical details
- Complete factory number: N-014-264-3.
- Nominal factory specification: M5 × 10.
- Design: Phillips-drive oval-head countersunk screw.
- Quantity supplied: one individual bolt.
The nominal specification describes the fastener itself rather than packaged shipping dimensions. Match the complete factory number, original attachment point and head seating arrangement. Similar-looking hardware elsewhere in the same assembly can differ in length, thread size or bearing surface.
Common reasons to replace
- A bolt is missing after component removal or previous service.
- The drive head is damaged or rounded.
- The threads have been crossed, stripped or otherwise damaged.
- The bolt is bent or its bearing surface no longer seats correctly.
- A previous repair used incorrect substitute hardware.
Inspect the crank seating surface, receiving thread and regulator shaft before installing replacement hardware. A new screw cannot repair worn crank splines, a damaged shaft or stripped threads. Diagnose stiff or slipping window operation at the affected mechanism.
Vehicle fitment
The table applies only to the specified original manual-window crank connections. Power-window regulator mounting screws are a separate application.

Installation guidance
Follow the factory window-crank removal and installation procedure for the exact vehicle and window position. Protect the door trim and preserve any original cap, underlay and spring in the correct order.
Align the mating components before engaging the bolt, start the threads carefully and use the correct tool for the actual drive. Follow the factory tightening instruction and sequence for the exact connection. Do not transfer torque values between different applications that happen to use the same bolt number.
Verify the crank is seated and retained correctly and operates the window without interference. Reinstall the original cap and trim pieces where specified. Do not overtighten to compensate for worn splines or a damaged crank.
