Original support for routed hoses and lines
The N-020-640-6 Genuine VW/Audi hose and line support clip holds the specified line at its original mounting point. A hose or pipe that has lost its support can move away from the designed routing and rub against a bracket or nearby component. Replacing a damaged or missing clip helps restore the original support arrangement during air-conditioning, steering or engine-bay line service.

Common reasons to replace
- Missing support: a line is no longer retained at its original mounting point after prior engine-bay work.
- Deformed mounting tabs: bent or cracked tabs prevent the clip from seating correctly against its bracket.
- Damaged contact lining: a worn, displaced or deteriorated cushion can leave the supported line exposed to direct contact with the clip.
- Corrosion or mounting damage: damaged hardware can reduce the support’s ability to hold the line in its specified position.
- Line replacement: inspect the retainers when fitting a replacement A/C or steering line and replace any unsuitable clips.
If a line shows abrasion, a leak or a damaged outer surface, inspect the line itself as well as the missing or failed support. A new clip does not repair a damaged pipe or hose. Ensure the complete routing clears belts, pulleys, hot components and adjoining brackets.

Installation and ordering guidance
Confirm this exact number against the vehicle identification number and the original hose or line support diagram. Preserve the original line routing, bracket and mounting orientation. Seat the cushioned contact area around the correct line without forcing the clip over an unsuitable diameter or crushing the hose. Inspect the mounting fastener and support bracket before reassembly.
Follow the factory procedure for the supported system. Replacing a support clip does not by itself require opening a fluid connection; if the repair also involves disconnecting a refrigerant or steering line, follow the applicable system procedure. Tighten the mounting fastener to the specified value for that attachment and check clearance after the support is installed.
