OVERVIEW
Genuine bumper-cover attachment hardware
The N-043-885-1 Genuine VW/Audi panel screw secures the assigned bumper or cover fastening connection on the Volkswagen configurations listed below. It replaces an individual original fastener at that mounting point.
This is a small hex-head panel screw with the factory nominal 4.8 × 19 specification. The bumper assembly contains several different screw and bolt sizes, so compare the original connection, washer arrangement and receiver rather than selecting by appearance alone.
Technical details
- Complete factory number: N-043-885-1.
- Nominal factory specification: 4.8 × 19.
- Design: external hex-head panel screw.
- Quantity supplied: one individual bolt.
The nominal specification describes the fastener itself rather than packaged shipping dimensions. Match the complete factory number, original attachment point and head seating arrangement. Similar-looking hardware elsewhere in the same assembly can differ in length, thread size or bearing surface.
Common reasons to replace
- A bolt is missing after component removal or previous service.
- The drive head is damaged or rounded.
- The threads have been crossed, stripped or otherwise damaged.
- The bolt is bent or its bearing surface no longer seats correctly.
- A previous repair used incorrect substitute hardware.
Inspect the cover tab, mounting clip and receiver before assembly. A new screw cannot repair a cracked cover, missing clip or stripped receiving point. Loose panel alignment can require repair of other mounting pieces as well as replacement of damaged hardware.

Installation guidance
Follow the factory bumper-cover removal and installation procedure for the exact vehicle. Support and align the cover and mounting pieces before engaging the screw. Preserve the original washers and receiver clips required at the repair position.
Align the mating components before engaging the bolt, start the threads carefully and use the correct tool for the actual drive. Follow the factory tightening instruction and sequence for the exact connection. Do not transfer torque values between different applications that happen to use the same bolt number.
Check that the cover is seated and retained correctly and that adjacent trim is restored. Investigate remaining movement rather than increasing tightening force or substituting a longer screw.
