Original hex bolt with integrated washer
The N-090-316-8 Genuine VW/Audi bolt combines an external hex head with an integrated washer. Its original length and bearing arrangement are intended for the specific mounting position listed in the factory parts diagram. Applications include selected transmission mounting bracket attachments and the specified rear muffler hanger position on the B5 A4.

The integrated washer provides the original bearing arrangement at the attachment. Match the complete fastener specification rather than substituting any M8 bolt. Incorrect length or seating geometry can prevent the bracket from being clamped correctly even when the replacement threads into the receiving hole.
Common reasons to replace
- Rounded head: tool damage reduces reliable wrench engagement during service.
- Thread damage: cross-threading, corrosion or previous fastening damage can prevent correct installation.
- Damaged bearing surface: a deformed washer or head can prevent the fastener from seating properly.
- Missing hardware: restore the specified mounting arrangement after a previous repair.
- Mount or bracket replacement: inspect the fastener when the corresponding transmission bracket or exhaust support is removed.
A loose bracket, vibration or exhaust rattle requires diagnosis of the complete assembly. This bolt does not repair a worn mount, damaged hanger or cracked bracket. Check the receiving threads, support components and adjoining hardware before deciding which parts require replacement.

Installation and ordering guidance
Use the vehicle identification number, transmission identification and original mounting diagram to confirm the serviced position. A model can use several similar-looking bolts with different lengths and washers. For the B6 3.0L application shown, the identified transmission bracket position is restricted to the manual transmission.
Support the relevant assembly before loosening its mounting hardware. Inspect the bracket and mating threads, position the mount or hanger as specified, and start the bolt without cross-threading. Use the factory tightening procedure for that particular attachment; a universal torque value based only on the thread diameter is unsuitable.
Refit all sleeves, isolators and related hardware in their original arrangement. After service, check that the supported assembly is correctly aligned and that the repaired attachment is securely seated. Order the required quantity for the specific mounting position.
