OVERVIEW

Genuine VW/Audi collared hex bolt, part number N-101-559-06. This original fastener combines an external hexagonal drive with an integral collar beneath the head. It is supplied individually for replacement at the attachment position that specifies this exact part number.

Technical details

  • Original part number: N-101-559-06 / N10155906.
  • Published nominal thread size and length: M8 x 20 mm.
  • External hexagonal head with an integral collar.
  • One bolt is supplied; companion brackets, washers, nuts and mounting components are separate.
  • Match the factory fastener specification, original mounting location and mating component before installation.

The collar provides the contact surface beneath the head. Head geometry and fastener length matter as well as thread diameter: a generic M8 bolt can have a different bearing surface or enter the mounting point to a different depth. Use the specified part instead of selecting hardware only by whether it threads into the opening.

Common reasons to replace

Replace a missing bolt or one with damaged threads, a rounded hex head, visible deformation or corrosion that has compromised its condition. Hardware can also require renewal when the applicable factory repair procedure calls for replacement after removal.

Inspect the mounting component and mating threads alongside the bolt. A bracket that remains loose after correct assembly can have a damaged mounting surface, elongated hole or defective threads. Replacing the bolt alone will not correct those conditions.

When dismantling an assembly, keep hardware organized by location and compare the replacement with the original specified fastener. Similar-looking bolts may differ in length or collar geometry. An incorrect substitution can prevent the component from seating correctly or damage the receiving threads.

Installation and service notes

Use the factory repair procedure for the exact vehicle and component being serviced. Inspect and clean the mating surfaces as directed, position the component correctly and start the bolt by hand to reduce the risk of cross-threading.

Use a correctly fitting socket on the external hex head. Follow the prescribed tightening specification and sequence for that mounting position. Do not estimate torque from the M8 thread diameter or transfer a value from a different bolt application.

Apply lubricants or thread treatments only when the applicable repair instructions specify them. Added lubricant or an arbitrary thread-locking compound can change assembly behavior. If the bolt does not start easily or the component does not seat, stop and identify the cause before tightening.

Fitment

Vehicle Model years Engine Chassis and transmission Application restrictions
Volkswagen R32 2004 3.2L VR6 gasoline Mk4, 4Motion; 6-speed manual Cataloged original hardware; match the original bolt number and exact attachment position. Vehicle compatibility does not make this suitable for every M8 mounting point.

Confirm the original part number and mounting position before ordering. One bolt is supplied.
