OVERVIEW
Genuine VW/Audi power steering hose clamp, part number N-102-556-01. This original ear-style band clamp retains the specified hose connection. The fitment table identifies confirmed hydraulic-steering applications, including the component and equipment restrictions needed to select the correct hardware.
Technical details
- Original part number: N-102-556-01 / N10255601.
- Published nominal size: 23.5 x 7 x 0.6 mm.
- Ear-style band clamp as pictured.
- One clamp is supplied. Steering fluid, hose, pump, reservoir and seals are separate.
- Match the original clamp number and connection instead of selecting solely by vehicle model or hose appearance.
Correctly retained hose connections are part of the hydraulic steering assembly. A clamp of the wrong size or installed at the wrong position can damage a hose or fail to retain the intended connection. The nominal dimensions identify this part and are not a universal recommendation for other hoses.
Common reasons to replace
Replace a missing clamp or one with a distorted band, damaged closing features or corrosion that has compromised its condition. Renew it when the applicable hose or pump replacement procedure calls for new retaining hardware.
Inspect the hose and fitting when servicing the clamp. Fluid seepage can come from a hardened hose, a damaged fitting, incorrect hose seating or another hydraulic component. A new clamp does not repair a split hose or a failed pump seal.
Steering noise, increased effort or fluid loss requires diagnosis of the complete hydraulic system. Confirm fluid level and the source of any leak using the factory procedure. This clamp is connection hardware and is not a standalone remedy for a noisy pump or steering fault.
Installation and service notes
Follow the factory procedure for the exact steering system, including dynamic-steering equipment where specified. Keep open hose connections clean, inspect the sealing area and fit the correct hose fully onto its designated connection.
Position the clamp as directed and use the prescribed tool and installation method. Avoid crushing, cutting or twisting the hose. Do not substitute unrelated clamp styles merely because they can be tightened around the connection.
Use the specified fluid and complete the required filling or bleeding procedure when the hydraulic circuit has been opened. Inspect hose routing and clearance, then perform the required leak and steering-function checks.
The A8 W12 profile below is supported by factory pump-service parts information. It identifies the service configuration; it does not promise coverage or eligibility under a historical factory update. Confirm the VIN and original equipment for the actual repair.
