OVERVIEW
70-amp protection for the assigned bolt-down fuse position
N-105-255-04 is the Genuine VW/Audi brown 70A strip fuse. Its flat mounting terminals attach to the designated bolt-down fuse holder, and the calibrated fuse element opens when the protected circuit exceeds its designed current limits.
A vehicle can use several visually similar strip fuses with different amperages. Match the complete part number, 70A rating, terminal arrangement and circuit assignment before replacement.
Technical details
- Complete factory number: N-105-255-04.
- Factory specification: 70A; brown identification.
- Design: bolt-down strip fuse with two flat mounting terminals and an insulated center section.
- Quantity supplied: one individual fuse.
The 70A value is the fuse rating, not a normal operating-current target. Never substitute a higher-amperage fuse to prevent repeated failures. Neighboring strip fuses and multi-fuse blocks are separate parts.
Common reasons to replace
- The fuse element has opened after an electrical fault.
- The housing or terminal area is damaged by overheating.
- Corrosion or damage at the terminals prevents a sound connection.
- The original fuse is missing or has an incorrect amperage.
- Diagnosis confirms an open fuse in the assigned protected circuit.
Determine why the fuse failed before installing another one. Inspect the holder, cable terminals and protected wiring for loose connections, short circuits or heat damage. Repeated fuse failure requires diagnosis rather than a larger fuse.
Vehicle fitment
These applications require confirmation of the specific 70A fuse position. The model alone does not identify every fuse fitted to the vehicle.
| Vehicle | Model years | Engine | Configuration | Application restrictions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Volkswagen Golf | 2012 | 2.5L gasoline I5 or 2.0L TDI diesel I4 | Mk6 hatchback; Manual or automatic; assigned 70A fuse position | Only the fuse-holder position calling for N10525504, 70A brown bolt-down strip fuse. Confirm circuit assignment and original rating. |
| Volkswagen GTI | 2012 | 2.0L turbocharged gasoline I4 | Mk6 hatchback; front-wheel drive; Manual or DSG; assigned 70A fuse position | Only the fuse-holder position calling for N10525504, 70A brown bolt-down strip fuse. Confirm original rating and holder. |
| Volkswagen Golf R | 2012 | 2.0L turbocharged gasoline I4 | Mk6 hatchback; 4Motion; 6-speed manual; assigned 70A fuse position | Only the fuse-holder position calling for N10525504, 70A brown bolt-down strip fuse. Confirm original rating and holder. |
Installation guidance
Switch off the vehicle and isolate electrical power as required by the factory service procedure. Replace only with the specified 70A fuse, seat the terminals correctly and tighten the holder connections to the specified torque.
Check the holder for heat damage and verify operation of the protected circuit after the underlying fault is repaired. Replace damaged holder or cable components separately.
Ordering information
One genuine 70A strip fuse per order. Fuse holder, cables and mounting nuts are separate. Confirm VIN, original fuse number and circuit assignment.
