OVERVIEW
Genuine VW/Audi 3 × 16mm Self-Tapping Screw
N-105-356-03 is the genuine small self-tapping screw used at specified fastening points in matched intake assemblies, including the Audi R8 applications below. It secures the assigned component using the original receiving hole and screw arrangement. This listing supplies one individual screw; the intake manifold, sensors, housings, seals and other fasteners are separate.
Technical details
- OEM number: N-105-356-03 / N10535603.
- Factory catalog specification: 3 × 16mm.
- Fastener type: Small self-tapping screw with the original rounded head and drive arrangement shown in the photo.
- Confirmed scope: The assigned intake-assembly fastening points in the restricted vehicle profiles below.
- Quantity: One screw per purchased unit.
- Application control: Full part number, receiving component, screw dimensions and factory fastening position.
A self-tapping screw depends on the correct receiving hole and thread engagement. It differs from a general metric machine screw intended for an already tapped metal thread. Using the wrong diameter or length can damage the receiving component, change engagement or interfere with a nearby part. Match the original screw assignment rather than substituting hardware based only on appearance.
The small screw size is important when identifying the correct fastening point within the intake assembly. This listing does not supply the other bolts, studs or nuts needed to remove and reinstall a complete manifold. It also does not supply an intake sensor or repair a failed actuator or electrical circuit.
Common reasons to replace
Replace the screw if it is missing, bent, damaged at the drive surface, corroded or stripped along the thread. Replacement may be needed after intake service when original hardware has been lost or when an incorrect substitute is discovered. Renew the screw whenever the applicable repair procedure calls for new fastening hardware.
Inspect the receiving hole and mounting tab before installation. A cracked housing, distorted tab or damaged receiving thread requires its own repair. An oversized screw is not an appropriate way to compensate for a damaged mounting hole. Intake-related faults can also arise from failed sensors, a worn mechanism, vacuum leaks, wiring damage or faulty seals; replacing a screw alone cannot resolve those problems.
Fitment
The table identifies confirmed intake-assembly applications. Match the installed assembly and the exact original fastening point. The same engine uses many fasteners with different functions and dimensions; engine size and model year alone do not identify every screw in the manifold area.
| Vehicle | Model years | Engine | Configuration | Application restrictions |

Installation and service guidance
Follow the factory procedure for access to the assigned intake component. Keep dirt and removed hardware out of open intake passages. Record the original screw locations, support the receiving component correctly and inspect the mounting hole before fitting the replacement.
Where the repair procedure allows reuse of the original receiving hole, align the screw with the established thread path to avoid cutting a second path or enlarging the hole. Start carefully by hand and tighten according to the procedure for that specific component. Do not substitute a universal tightening value or overtighten the small screw.
If the repair requires removal of intake housings, fuel-system components or seals, follow the separate procedures for those assemblies and renew the required seals and hardware. Reconnect removed hoses and wiring correctly, then check the serviced assembly and complete any required diagnostics before returning the vehicle to use.
