OVERVIEW
Genuine VW/Audi rear lower control-arm mounting bolt, part number N-106-286-01. This original collared hex bolt attaches the specified rear lower control arm to the wheel bearing housing on the configurations listed below. It is supplied individually for service of that outer suspension connection.
Technical details
- Original number: N-106-286-01 / N10628601.
- Published nominal size: M12 x 1.5 x 75.
- External hex head with integral collar beneath the head.
- Assigned position: rear lower control-arm connection at the wheel bearing housing.
- One bolt supplied. Mating nut, control arm, bushing and wheel bearing housing are separate.
The rear lower control arm locates part of the rear suspension assembly and carries the spring in the applicable arrangement. Its outer attachment must use the correct hardware so the arm and mounting point remain properly seated.
This straight mounting bolt differs from the eccentric adjustment hardware used at other rear suspension connections. Correct nominal thread size alone does not establish that a bolt fits an inner or outer control-arm position. Match the original number and actual attachment point.
Common reasons to replace
Replacement may be needed during rear lower control-arm, bushing or related suspension service when the factory procedure requires new hardware. Replace damaged threads, a rounded hex head, deformation, missing hardware or corrosion affecting reliable installation.
Earlier repair work may have left a reused or incorrect substitute fastener at the outer arm connection. Inspect the mounting arrangement and obtain the correct bolt and separately specified nut before completing the repair.
Rear suspension noise, movement or alignment changes require inspection of the complete arm, bushings, spring seating and mounting points. A new bolt does not restore a torn bushing, bent control arm, damaged mounting hole or worn suspension component. Resolve the diagnosed defect before reassembly.
Installation and service notes
Follow the factory repair procedure for the exact rear lower control-arm attachment. Support the vehicle and suspension as specified before releasing the connection. The spring and arm can remain loaded, so use the prescribed component support and spring-handling procedure.
Inspect the wheel bearing housing mounting faces, arm bushing and fastener holes. Position the components correctly and start the new bolt by hand. Do not use tightening force to pull a misaligned arm into position.
Install the correct associated nut and renew hardware wherever the repair procedure calls for replacement. Follow the specified thread preparation, tightening sequence, suspension position, torque and any additional angle for this exact connection.
Do not transfer a torque value from the inner eccentric bolt, rear shock bolt or another M12 fastener. Final tightening position can be important for suspension bushings; follow the model-specific procedure rather than assuming the suspension should hang freely.
Complete the prescribed suspension and alignment checks after service. Confirm spring seating and component clearance before returning the vehicle to use. This listing supplies one original outer mounting bolt; select quantities and additional hardware according to the repair being performed.
