OVERVIEW

Genuine VW/Audi camshaft adjuster valve O-ring, part number N-106-916-01. This original sealing ring seals the camshaft adjustment solenoid to the cylinder head on the specified FSI engine configurations below. It is supplied individually for solenoid removal, replacement or repair of a diagnosed leak at that sealing interface.

Technical details

  • Original number: N-106-916-01 / N10691601.
  • Published nominal ring size: 15 x 1.8 mm.
  • Sealing position: camshaft adjustment solenoid-to-cylinder-head interface.
  • Application: specified FSI engine arrangement; later chain-driven TSI engines require separate verification.
  • One O-ring supplied. Solenoid, retaining hardware and other timing seals are separate.

The O-ring provides the seal at the solenoid mounting interface. A correctly selected, undamaged ring supports proper sealing when the solenoid is seated in its original bore. Its condition is separate from the electrical and mechanical operation of the camshaft adjustment valve.

This ring is not the complete timing-cover gasket or a general replacement for other engine O-rings. Confirm the original number and actual solenoid arrangement before ordering. Engine-cover lettering alone is not sufficient for selecting the correct timing-system seal.

Common reasons to replace

Renew this O-ring when the camshaft adjustment solenoid is removed, as specified for the original sealing arrangement. Removal and handling can disturb the existing seal, so inspect the bore and solenoid sealing surface before installing a new ring.

Replace a ring that is cut, flattened, hardened, visibly deteriorated or otherwise damaged. Replacement can also be required after diagnosing oil seepage at this particular interface. Trace the leak to its source before ordering, because oil from nearby cover or gasket joints can collect in the same area.

Camshaft timing faults, rough running or solenoid-related fault codes require diagnosis of the adjustment system, wiring, oil supply and mechanical timing components. A new O-ring cannot repair a defective solenoid, electrical connection, damaged sealing bore or timing-system fault. Correct the diagnosed issue along with any sealing defect.

Installation and service notes

Follow the factory procedure for the exact FSI engine and solenoid arrangement. Prepare the work area and remove the required mounting components as directed. Keep dirt away from the exposed solenoid bore and oil passages.

Remove the old sealing ring carefully without damaging the solenoid or cylinder-head sealing surface. Inspect the groove and bore for contamination, scoring or other damage that could prevent a new O-ring from sealing.

Use the specified preparation or lubrication for this sealing position. Seat the replacement ring in its original groove without twisting, stretching excessively or pinching it. Do not add sealant unless the factory procedure explicitly requires it.

Install the solenoid squarely and ensure that the ring remains properly seated as the component enters its bore. Fit the correct retaining hardware and use the factory tightening requirements for that attachment.

Reconnect the electrical connector and any components removed for access. Perform the prescribed leak and operating checks after assembly. If leakage continues, inspect the actual interface and nearby seals instead of tightening the retaining hardware beyond specification.

This listing supplies one original sealing ring. Select retaining bolts, solenoid assemblies and other timing-system gaskets separately according to the repair being performed.

Fitment

Vehicle Model years Engine Configuration Application restrictions
Volkswagen GTI 2006–2008 2.0L turbocharged FSI gasoline, BPY Mk5 hatchback, front-wheel drive; 6-speed manual / 6-speed DSG Camshaft adjustment solenoid-to-cylinder-head O-ring on the specified FSI engine. Match original N10691601; excludes chain-driven CCTA/CBFA TSI engines and other timing seals.
Volkswagen Golf R 2012–2013 2.0L turbocharged FSI gasoline, CRZA Mk6 hatchback, 4Motion; 6-speed manual Camshaft adjustment solenoid-to-cylinder-head O-ring on the specified FSI engine. Match original N10691601; excludes chain-driven CCTA/CBFA TSI engines and other timing seals.

Confirm the original O-ring number and camshaft adjustment solenoid arrangement before ordering. One ring supplied.
