OVERVIEW
Genuine VW/Audi mounting bolt, part number N-107-662-01. This original internal six-lobe fastener is specified in the rear crankshaft seal housing hardware arrangement for the configurations below. It is supplied individually for the assigned attachment position during rear main seal service.
Technical details
- Original number: N-107-662-01 / N10766201.
- Published nominal size: M6 x 12.
- Internal six-lobe Torx drive with collar beneath the head.
- Application: specified fastener in the original rear crankshaft seal housing hardware arrangement.
- One bolt supplied. Rear seal assembly, other screws and associated repair parts are separate.
The rear crankshaft seal housing arrangement must be installed with the correct hardware at each mounting position. Proper component seating and the separate sealing parts provide the intended oil sealing function. This small mounting bolt does not replace the crankshaft seal itself.
The same original fastener can be assigned to other engine mounting uses. The table identifies the rear seal hardware applications confirmed here. Match the original bolt number and actual position instead of treating an M6 thread as universal compatibility.
Common reasons to replace
Replacement may be needed during rear main seal or associated housing service when the factory procedure requires new hardware. Replace damaged threads, a damaged internal drive recess, deformation, missing hardware or corrosion that prevents proper installation.
Access for clutch, flywheel or transmission work can reveal damaged housing fasteners or incorrect substitutes from earlier repairs. Inspect the complete mounting arrangement and obtain the correct screws before fitting the replacement seal assembly.
Oil leakage near the engine-to-transmission interface requires diagnosis of the actual source. A new mounting bolt cannot repair a worn crankshaft seal, damaged sealing surface, defective housing, excessive crankcase pressure or a leak from another engine location. Correct the diagnosed fault and select the proper sealing components for the repair.
Installation and service notes
Follow the factory rear crankshaft seal procedure for the exact engine and seal assembly. Observe the prescribed access, component support and seal-handling instructions before removing or installing the housing hardware.
Identify the assigned N10766201 position and inspect the mounting surfaces and threaded holes. Position the housing using the required alignment and installation procedure. Do not use the mounting screws to force an incorrectly seated seal assembly into place.
Start the bolt by hand in undamaged threads. Use a fully seated Torx bit to protect the internal drive, then follow the required tightening sequence for the complete housing arrangement.
Apply the specified torque and any additional angle for this exact fastener position. Follow the factory requirements for thread preparation, new hardware and sealing materials. Do not infer a universal tightening value from M6 x 12.
Different rear seal designs can have different handling and sealing instructions. Use only the prescribed installation aids and materials for the actual assembly; do not add sealant or lubricant by assumption.
Complete the required assembly, oil-leak and operating checks after service. This listing supplies one original bolt. Select the rear seal housing, other mounting screws and related components separately.
