OVERVIEW
This genuine double-ended stud is assigned to the intake manifold attachment on the verified engines below. Its two threaded ends and unthreaded middle section distinguish it from the separate socket-head bolts used around the same manifold.
Technical details and contents
Factory nominal specification: M6 × 40. This is the functional fastener designation, not a package measurement. One individual stud is supplied.
Factory number: N-107-702-01 / N10770201. Brand: Genuine VW/Audi. Quantity supplied: one individual fastener.
Function and application
The stud provides the specified threaded attachment for the manifold assembly. Preserve the original stud position and projection, and use the correct accompanying nut where the workshop diagram calls for one. Do not substitute the adjacent manifold bolt merely because its thread diameter is similar.
Common reasons to replace
- The original stud is missing after manifold service.
- Either threaded end is damaged or cross-threaded.
- Corrosion, bending or damaged engagement prevents correct assembly.
- Original hardware is required to restore an incorrectly repaired manifold attachment.
Vehicle fitment
Use the complete vehicle, engine and component-point information in this table. Confirm the factory assignment against the original hardware and vehicle identification before ordering. The same vehicle can contain several similar-looking fasteners with different specifications.
| Vehicle | Model years | Engine | Configuration | Application restrictions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Volkswagen Golf | 2016 | 1.8L turbocharged gasoline inline-four | Mk7 hatchback; front-wheel drive; 5-speed manual / 6-speed automatic | Original intake manifold stud connection; match the installed manifold and exact mounting point. |
| Volkswagen GTI | 2021 | 2.0L turbocharged gasoline inline-four | Mk7.5 hatchback; front-wheel drive; 6-speed manual / 7-speed DSG | Original intake manifold stud connection. The adjacent M6 × 45 bolt and its build-date note are separate. |
| Volkswagen Beetle | 2019 | 2.0L turbocharged gasoline inline-four | Coupe; original intake manifold attachment; 6-speed automatic; front-wheel drive | Original M6 × 40 intake manifold stud; this row does not establish Convertible fitment. |
Installation guidance
Inspect the receiving threads and manifold mounting area before installation. A new stud cannot repair stripped cylinder-head threads, a cracked manifold or a leaking gasket. Align the assembly without forcing the manifold over the stud, and follow the factory tightening procedure for the stud and its separate fastening hardware. Do not use the tightening value or build-date restriction for a neighboring bolt.
Retain all application-specific workshop instructions, including hardware renewal requirements and the correct tightening sequence. Check that the mating components are properly supported and aligned before tightening. The fastener must seat correctly without compensating for damaged or misaligned parts.
Ordering information
This is one genuine replacement intake manifold stud, not an assembly or hardware kit. Related components, seals, washers and other fasteners are supplied separately. Check the required quantity for the exact repair before ordering.
