OVERVIEW
Genuine VW/Audi front driveshaft boot clamp, part number N-107-722-01. This original retaining band secures the specified front propeller-shaft boot in its mounting position on the configurations below. It is supplied individually for boot removal, replacement or refitting.
Technical details
- Original number: N-107-722-01 / N10772201.
- Published nominal clamp size designation: 36.1 x 9 x 0.6 mm.
- One-time-use crimping clamp.
- Application: assigned front propeller-shaft boot retaining position.
- One clamp supplied. Boot, joint, grease and other boot bands are separate.
The boot protects the covered shaft joint from contamination and helps retain the prescribed lubricant in its enclosed area. The clamp holds the boot seated at its assigned retaining position. Correct clamp and boot selection are both necessary for the original sealing arrangement.
Other joint boots or different ends of the same boot can require different bands. Match the original number, nominal clamp designation and actual position. This listing does not supply a complete boot repair kit.
Common reasons to replace
Renew this one-time-use clamp whenever it has been released for boot removal or refitting. Replace a missing, damaged, distorted or improperly installed retaining band.
Boot replacement after a split or sealing failure requires inspection of the joint and its lubricant as well as new retaining hardware. If the original band has loosened or was installed incorrectly during an earlier repair, inspect the boot seating surface and confirm the correct clamp before reassembly.
Grease escape or contamination around the joint can indicate a torn boot, poor seating, damaged clamp or another defect in the covered assembly. A new band cannot repair a split boot, worn joint or damaged boot retaining surface. Diagnose and correct the actual cause before installing the replacement clamp.
Installation and service notes
Follow the factory procedure for the exact front propeller-shaft boot arrangement. Support and position the shaft as prescribed before releasing the boot or associated hardware.
Inspect the boot, retaining groove and mating surfaces. Replace the boot or repair the joint as required by the diagnosed condition. Use only the prescribed lubricant and fill quantity when joint service is part of the repair.
Seat the correct boot fully in its assigned position and install the new clamp with the proper crimping tool. Follow the specified clamp closure and installation procedure so the band secures the boot without cutting, twisting or distorting it.
This is not a worm-drive hose clamp. Do not substitute an unrelated adjustable band or attempt to reuse a released crimping clamp. Clamp geometry and closure are part of the original boot retaining arrangement.
Confirm the boot is seated evenly, the clamp is closed as specified and the joint can move through its required range without the boot being pulled or pinched. Inspect any other retaining band disturbed during the repair and replace it according to its own specification.
Complete the required drivetrain clearance and operating checks after assembly. Inspect the serviced boot interface for secure retention and lubricant escape as prescribed by the repair procedure.
This listing supplies one original clamp. Select the boot, other retaining bands and related repair components separately according to the actual driveshaft arrangement.
