OVERVIEW
Genuine VW/Audi rear stabilizer bar end-link nut, part number N-901-838-03. This original collared hex nut retains the rear stabilizer bar end link to the lower control arm at the assigned position on the configuration below. It is supplied individually for end-link or related suspension service.
Technical details
- Original number: N-901-838-03 / N90183803.
- Published nominal size: M8 x 1.25.
- External hex body with integral collar and the pictured locking insert.
- Application: specified rear stabilizer bar end-link-to-lower-control-arm attachment.
- One-time-use hardware; one nut per side at this mounting position.
- One nut supplied. End link, mating bolt, control arm and other stabilizer hardware are separate.
The stabilizer end link connects the bar to the suspension attachment so the assembly can respond to suspension movement. Correct mounting hardware retains the end link in its assigned connection. This locking nut is distinct from the shorter support-bracket fasteners that retain the bar bushings.
Other suspension positions can use similar M8 hardware with different lengths or original numbers. Match N90183803 at the actual lower control-arm connection before ordering and check the separately specified mating hardware.
Common reasons to replace
Renew this one-time-use nut after its connection has been released during end-link, control-arm or stabilizer service. Replace damaged threads, rounded wrenching flats, deformation, missing hardware or corrosion affecting reliable installation.
Earlier repair work may have introduced an incorrect substitute or reused mounting fastener. Inspect the complete end-link connection and obtain the correct new hardware before refitting the components.
Rear suspension clunks or changes in roll behavior require diagnosis of the stabilizer bar, end links, support bushings, control arms and surrounding suspension. A new nut cannot repair a worn link joint, torn bushing, bent bar or damaged mounting hole. Resolve the diagnosed fault before completing the attachment.
Installation and service notes
Follow the factory procedure for the exact rear stabilizer end-link arrangement. Support the vehicle and suspension as prescribed before releasing the connection, and observe the instructions for controlling any load in the bar or link.
Inspect the lower control-arm mounting point, end-link attachment and mating hardware. Position the components correctly and start the new nut by hand on the correctly specified bolt. Do not use the fastener to force a misaligned end link into place.
Install the correctly specified separate bolt and any other required hardware. Use the proper hex socket and follow the factory tightening sequence, suspension position, torque and any additional angle for this exact connection.
Do not transfer a tightening value from the bar support bracket, another end-link position or an unrelated M8 fastener. Follow the specified thread preparation and replacement requirements, including any instruction to renew the mating bolt.
If the connection does not seat normally, inspect component alignment and hardware selection before tightening further. Confirm that the stabilizer assembly has its required clearance through the prescribed suspension movement.
Complete the required suspension operating checks after assembly. This listing supplies one original nut; order the quantity needed for the sides being serviced and select the other stabilizer hardware separately.
