OVERVIEW
Genuine stabilizer-link attachment nut
The N-901-838-04 Genuine VW/Audi self-locking hexagon collar nut secures the assigned stabilizer-link connection on the configurations listed below. The M8 thread and collar must match the original bolt and attachment.
The factory Taos and Tiguan procedure identifies this nut at the rear link-to-lower-control-arm connection and calls for replacement after removal. Similar suspension joints can use different nuts even on the same vehicle.
Technical details
- Complete factory number: N-901-838-04.
- Nominal factory specification: M8 thread.
- Design: self-locking hexagon collar nut.
- Quantity supplied: one individual nut.
The nominal specification describes the nut itself rather than packaged shipping dimensions. Match the complete factory number, original attachment point and head seating arrangement. Similar-looking hardware elsewhere in the same assembly can differ in length, thread size or bearing surface.
Common reasons to replace
- A nut is missing after component removal or previous service.
- The wrenching flats are damaged or rounded.
- The threads have been crossed, stripped or otherwise damaged.
- The collar or locking element is damaged.
- A previous repair used incorrect substitute hardware.
Inspect the mating bolt, link joint, bushings and control-arm attachment for damage. A new nut cannot repair worn link joints or damaged threads. Suspension knocks require diagnosis before parts are replaced.
Vehicle fitment
Match the original stabilizer-link attachment and the suspension configuration in each row. Taos fitment here is limited to the all-wheel-drive multi-link rear suspension.
| Vehicle | Model years | Engine | Configuration | Application restrictions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Volkswagen Taos | 2022 | 1.5L turbocharged gasoline inline-four | SUV; 4Motion all-wheel drive; rear multi-link suspension; 7-speed DSG | Rear stabilizer-link to lower-control-arm attachment, original N10776501 bolt/N90183804 nut connection. Excludes FWD torsion-beam rear suspension. |
| Volkswagen Tiguan | 2021–2022 | 2.0L turbocharged gasoline inline-four | Second-generation SUV; front-wheel drive or 4Motion; 8-speed automatic | Rear stabilizer-link to lower-control-arm attachment, original N10776501 bolt/N90183804 nut connection. Not Tiguan Limited. |
| Volkswagen Golf R | 2022 | 2.0L turbocharged gasoline inline-four | Mk8 hatchback; 4Motion; 6-speed manual or 7-speed DSG | Assigned stabilizer-link lower attachment using N90183804; confirm original link and mounting point. |
| Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport | 2022 | 3.6L gasoline VR6 | SEL SUV; front-wheel drive or 4Motion; 8-speed automatic | Rear stabilizer-link lower attachment assigned N90183804. Verify original link hardware. |
Installation guidance
Use new hardware where required by the factory repair procedure. Support the suspension correctly and follow the specified loading position, sequence and tightening instruction for the exact joint. Replace this self-locking nut after removal; do not rely on a previously used locking insert.
Align the mating components before engaging the nut, start the threads carefully and use the correct tool for the actual drive. Follow the factory tightening instruction and sequence for the exact connection. Do not transfer torque values between different applications that happen to use the same nut number.
Confirm the link is correctly seated and has clearance through its intended movement. Follow all checks required after suspension service.
Ordering information
Supplied as one genuine nut. Mating bolt, stabilizer link, bushings, control arm and a complete hardware kit are not included. Confirm the quantity required.
