OVERVIEW
Genuine VW/Audi rear upper shock mount bolt, part number N-906-484-02. This original M10 x 1.5 x 35 fastener secures the rear upper shock mount to the vehicle on the configurations below. The specified arrangement uses two bolts per side; this listing supplies one bolt.
Technical details
- Original number: N-906-484-02 / N90648402.
- Published nominal size: M10 x 1.5 x 35.
- External hex head with an attached washer.
- Assigned application: rear upper shock mount-to-vehicle attachment.
- One bolt supplied. Shock absorber, upper mount and other mounting hardware are separate.
The rear upper mount connects the shock absorber assembly to the vehicle. Correct mounting hardware keeps the mount seated at its intended attachment points while the shock and mount perform their damping and isolation functions.
This fastener is for the assigned upper mount connection. It does not replace the lower shock bolt or the hardware securing the shock to the mount. Select each fastener by original number and attachment position rather than using one nominal thread size throughout the assembly.
Common reasons to replace
Inspect the bolts during rear shock or upper mount service. Replace missing hardware, damaged threads, rounded hex heads, deformation or corrosion that prevents reliable installation. Renew removed fasteners wherever the applicable factory procedure requires replacement hardware.
Previous work may leave unsuitable substitutes or an incomplete upper mount connection. Verify that both specified mounting positions on each serviced side have the correct hardware before completing the repair.
Rear suspension knocking, excessive body motion or an oil leak from the shock requires diagnosis of the shock, upper mount, bushings and related suspension components. A new bolt cannot restore a leaking damper, collapsed mount, cracked mounting component or damaged threaded vehicle attachment.
Installation and service notes
Follow the factory rear shock and mount procedure for the exact vehicle. Support the vehicle and suspension at the prescribed points before removing the assembly. Use the specified method to control the shock and suspension position during service.
Inspect the upper mount, its seating surfaces and the mating vehicle threads. Position the mount correctly and start the bolts by hand in undamaged threads. Do not use the fasteners to force a misaligned mount against the body.
Use the correct hex socket and follow the factory tightening sequence, torque and any additional angle for the upper mount-to-vehicle connection. Follow the specified thread preparation and hardware replacement instructions.
Do not transfer a tightening value from the lower shock bolt, the shock rod nut or another M10 suspension attachment. Those connections can have different hardware and tightening requirements.
If a fastener does not seat normally, inspect the mount position, thread condition and bolt specification before proceeding. Excessive tightening does not repair a damaged attachment or compensate for an unsuitable bolt.
After assembly, confirm all required mounting hardware is installed, the mount is seated and nearby components have the specified clearance. Complete the required suspension and operating checks after removing the supports.
This listing supplies one original bolt. Order the quantity required for the actual repair and select other shock and mount components separately.
