OVERVIEW

Genuine VW/Audi N-908-323-02 is an individual threaded speed nut used at the assigned mounting point in the original power-steering reservoir and hose arrangement. Its formed clip body positions the M8 threaded receiver at the specified bracket attachment.

Technical details and contents

  • Factory part number: N-908-323-02 / N90832302.
  • Thread designation: M8.
  • Formed clip-on body with threaded receiver.
  • Quantity supplied: one individual speed nut.
  • Mating bolt, bracket, reservoir, hoses and fluid are separate.

The M8 designation describes the functional thread size. Correct clip shape and bracket engagement are also necessary; another M8 nut is not automatically a substitute for this formed mounting component.

Function in the steering assembly

The speed nut provides the receiving thread at the assigned mounting point. Its formed body engages the original bracket or panel so the mating fastener can retain the component at the intended location. Match the complete mounting arrangement before ordering.

Some listed vehicles use different hardware with different transmissions. In the Passat and Beetle applications marked G0C below, the catalog assigns this speed nut to the five-speed manual arrangement. Automatic-transmission mounting points can use separate double-stud and nut hardware.

Common reasons to replace

  • The clip is missing during reservoir, hose or bracket service.
  • The threaded receiver is stripped or cross-threaded.
  • The formed body is bent and no longer engages the bracket.
  • The clip is cracked, damaged or corroded.
  • The original component cannot hold the mating fastener correctly.

Inspect the bracket opening, mating bolt and retained component before fitting a replacement. A new speed nut cannot correct a distorted support or damaged attachment hole. This is mounting hardware and does not repair a hydraulic leak.

Vehicle fitment

Observe the transmission and VIN restrictions. The earlier N90832301 entry and automatic-transmission hardware must be identified separately. Select the original connection by complete vehicle configuration and diagram assignment.

Vehicle Model years Engine Configuration Application restrictions
Volkswagen Passat 2012–2013 2.5L gasoline inline-five NMS sedan; original hydraulic power-steering mounting arrangement; 5-speed manual; PR G0C; front-wheel drive Assigned M8 speed nut in steering reservoir/hose mounting arrangement; PR G0C only. Excludes 6-speed automatic G1A hardware and TDI/VR6 DSG applications.
Volkswagen Passat 2014–2015 1.8L turbocharged gasoline inline-four NMS sedan; original hydraulic power-steering mounting arrangement; 5-speed manual; PR G0C; front-wheel drive Assigned M8 speed nut; PR G0C only. The automatic connection uses separate double-stud and nut hardware.
Volkswagen Beetle 2013 2.5L gasoline inline-five A5 Coupe; original hydraulic power-steering mounting arrangement; 5-speed manual; PR G0C; front-wheel drive Original assigned M8 speed nut for G0C transmission. Excludes six-speed automatic, turbo/DSG and TDI configurations from this row.
Volkswagen New Beetle 2008 2.5L gasoline inline-five Type 1C Coupe; original power-steering reservoir/hose mounting attachment; Match original mounting arrangement; front-wheel drive N90832302 assignment from VIN 1C-7-514 246. Earlier N90832301 is a separate catalog entry; verify complete VIN and exact mounting point. Convertible not included in this row.

Installation guidance

Follow the factory procedure for access to the exact steering mounting point. Support the retained component as required and avoid stressing connected hoses or fittings. Keep the hydraulic system closed unless the repair procedure requires it to be opened.

Seat the speed nut fully on the original bracket and align its threaded receiver with the mounting hole. Start the correct mating fastener by hand. Follow the factory torque and sequence for that connection; do not overtighten to compensate for a damaged clip or misaligned bracket.

Ordering information

This listing supplies one genuine speed nut. Confirm the required quantity and the condition of the mating bolt and bracket for the repair. Reservoir, pump, hoses, steering fluid and a complete installation kit are not included.
