Voltage, wattage and physical fit all matter when replacing a lamp bulb. A higher-wattage bulb can change the heat load on the fixture. A different contact arrangement may not fit or make reliable electrical contact. Retain the factory rating and correct bulb design.

Replace the bulb when its filament has failed, the glass is damaged, the contacts are damaged or the original bulb is missing. A darkened bulb or reduced illumination can justify inspection, but verify the bulb and fixture before deciding what requires replacement.

Installation and service guidance
Switch the lamp off and allow the bulb and fixture to cool before service. Follow the factory procedure for removing the lens or accessing the lamp. Use the prescribed trim access method to avoid cracking the lens, marking surrounding trim or bending retaining features.
Inspect the contacts and fixture for heat damage, corrosion or looseness. Install the correct bulb so both end contacts seat in their intended supports. Do not force an incompatible bulb into the fixture, change the specified wattage or modify the wiring to make it fit.
Refit the lens and retaining components carefully, then check illumination and switching. If the repair requires electrical disconnection, follow the vehicle’s specified disconnect and reconnection procedure. Check any remaining fault through the proper diagnostic process.
This bulb restores light at its assigned fixture. It does not convert the lamp to an LED assembly or change the original lighting-system controls.
