OVERVIEW
Genuine electronic steering-lock attachment hardware
The N-908-777-02 Genuine VW/Audi combination bolt secures the assigned electronic steering-column-lock module attachment on the configurations listed below. The original M5 × 10 specification must match the mounting point and receiving threads.
This small module fastener is different from the structural steering-column bolts and security shear bolts used elsewhere. Equipment codes determine the applicable access-control arrangement, so match the complete factory number and original location.
Technical details
- Complete factory number: N-908-777-02.
- Nominal factory specification: M5 × 10.
- Design: socket-head combination bolt with the original bearing arrangement.
- Quantity supplied: one individual bolt.
The nominal specification describes the fastener itself rather than packaged shipping dimensions. Match the complete factory number, original attachment point and head seating arrangement. Similar-looking hardware elsewhere in the same assembly can differ in length, thread size or bearing surface.
Common reasons to replace
- A bolt is missing after component removal or previous service.
- The drive head is damaged or rounded.
- The threads have been crossed, stripped or otherwise damaged.
- The bolt is bent or its bearing surface no longer seats correctly.
- A previous repair used incorrect substitute hardware.
Inspect the module mounting point and receiving threads before fitting new hardware. A starting or steering-lock fault requires diagnosis of the control unit, electrical supply and related system. Replacing a mounting bolt alone does not repair an electronic lock fault.
Vehicle fitment
Each row requires the equipment code and original module attachment shown. Model years sharing an engine or body shape can use a different access-control arrangement.

Installation guidance
Follow the factory procedure for access to the electronic steering-column-lock unit and any required electrical precautions. Support the unit and protect connectors and wiring during service. Use the correct drive tool and tighten the assigned mounting connection as specified.
Align the mating components before engaging the bolt, start the threads carefully and use the correct tool for the actual drive. Follow the factory tightening instruction and sequence for the exact connection. Do not transfer torque values between different applications that happen to use the same bolt number.
Restore the trim and wiring routing, confirm that the module is secure and perform the prescribed functional checks. Any electronic component replacement or adaptation is a separate service operation.
Ordering information
Supplied as one genuine bolt. Electronic steering-lock module, ignition switch, steering column, wiring, shear bolts and a complete hardware kit are not included.
