OVERVIEW
Genuine Lower Front Brace Blind Rivet Nut
The N-909-147-01 Genuine VW/Audi blind rivet nut provides an internally threaded attachment point in the original lower-front brace mounting arrangement on matched early Audi TT vehicles. A rivet nut is installed into a prepared hole and secured by forming its body against the supporting material. It provides a captive mounting thread where an ordinary loose nut cannot be fitted in the same way.
Technical Details
- OEM part number: N-909-147-01.
- Type: blind rivet nut; also described in the catalog as a rivetted cap nut.
- Nominal thread size: M10.
- Factory specification: M10 × 1.8–5 mm. The 1.8–5 mm range refers to the installation grip/material range, not a 1.8 mm thread pitch.
- Matched factory position: lower-front brace, engine/transmission mounting illustration, position 33.
- Associated brace: 8N0-199-403-B.
- Quantity supplied: one rivet nut. The matched catalog arrangement uses two.
The broad flange and threaded body are visible in the original product photograph. This is installation hardware, not the brace itself. The precise mounting hole, material thickness, rivet-nut setting tool and installation procedure must match the intended assembly.
Common Reasons to Replace
- The captive insert turns in its mounting hole instead of holding while its bolt is tightened or removed.
- Its internal threads are stripped, cross-threaded or damaged during previous service.
- The insert is loose, distorted or missing during inspection of the brace attachment.
- The mounting assembly is being repaired and requires renewal of an insert that cannot be reused after removal.
Check the surrounding mounting material as well as the insert. An enlarged, cracked or damaged hole can prevent a new rivet nut from setting correctly. Replacement hardware alone cannot restore a damaged mounting structure; inspect and repair the attachment point according to the vehicle repair procedure.
Vehicle Fitment
The factory application has a chassis cutoff, so the model year alone does not confirm compatibility. Verify the original lower-front brace and chassis number. The fitment below applies to the specified factory mounting position.
| Vehicle | Model years | Engine | Configuration | Application restrictions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Audi TT | 2000–2001 | 1.8L turbocharged gasoline | 8N Coupe; original lower-front brace 8N0-199-403-B required; Match original mounting arrangement; no transmission-specific restriction at this brace fastener | Factory lower-front brace rivet nut, catalog position 33; chassis up to 8N-1-070000 only. Confirm original brace and rivet-nut hole. Later chassis, other brace positions and retrofit installations require separate verification. |
| Audi TT | 2001 | 1.8L turbocharged gasoline | 8N Roadster; original lower-front brace 8N0-199-403-B required; Match original mounting arrangement; no transmission-specific restriction at this brace fastener | Factory lower-front brace rivet nut, catalog position 33; chassis up to 8N-1-070000 only. Confirm original brace and rivet-nut hole. Later chassis, other brace positions and retrofit installations require separate verification. |
Installation and Ordering Notes
Use the correct rivet-nut installation tool and the repair instructions for the vehicle. Do not substitute a conventional hex nut or assume that another M10 insert has the same flange, body, grip range or setting requirements. Check bolt compatibility and the surrounding mounting structure before assembling the brace.
The brace, bolts, washers, installation tool and other hardware are sold separately. Factory applications are listed above; compatibility with aftermarket skid plates or brace retrofits is not implied by this table. The seven-image gallery repeats the available original photograph with distinct descriptive metadata. Repeated images depict the same single part.
