OVERVIEW
Genuine VW/Audi WHT-002-087 is an individual oval-head panel screw used at the assigned original air-cleaner housing connection. It replaces the specified fastener during air-filter housing service and at other individually assigned intake-component points described below.
Technical details and what is included
- Factory number: WHT-002-087 / WHT002087.
- Original nominal screw designation: 5 × 34.
- Component: oval-head panel screw for the assigned intake assembly.
- Quantity supplied: one individual screw.
- The archive photograph shows the rounded head, shank and threaded end.
- Selected original diagrams also assign this number to an air-mass-sensor attachment point; verify that exact connection separately.
The nominal 5 × 34 designation describes the factory fastener, not shipping dimensions. This panel screw is selected by the original housing assignment. It is not interchangeable with every similarly sized intake screw, bracket bolt or air-filter housing mounting stud. Different engines within the same model can use different housings and hardware.
Common reasons to replace
- A screw is missing after air-filter or intake-component service.
- The drive recess is damaged and no longer accepts the correct tool securely.
- The threaded section has been damaged or distorted.
- Inspection finds corrosion or other damage that prevents correct fastening.
- The exact original screw is needed when restoring an intake housing after previous repairs.
Inspect the receiving boss and housing flange before installing the replacement. A stripped or cracked plastic boss may require housing repair or replacement rather than another screw. Check the filter element's seating and the condition of the housing and intake seals; new hardware alone does not repair a damaged air cleaner or diagnose an air-metering fault.
Vehicle fitment
Use the engine, body and original component restrictions in the table. Hybrid and non-hybrid Jetta applications are listed separately. Confirm the original screw number at the actual connection, especially when an intake housing has been replaced or an aftermarket intake has been fitted.
| Vehicle | Model years | Engine | Configuration | Application restrictions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid | 2013–2015 | 1.4L turbocharged gasoline/electric hybrid | Sedan; original hybrid air-cleaner assembly; 7-speed DSG; front-wheel drive | Assigned air-cleaner assembly screw; match the original hybrid housing. This row applies to the named hybrid configuration only. |
| Volkswagen Jetta | 2016–2018 | 1.4L turbocharged gasoline inline-four | Mk6 sedan; non-hybrid; original air-cleaner housing; 5-speed manual / 6-speed automatic; front-wheel drive | Original non-hybrid 1.4L air-cleaner screw point. Do not transfer this row to 1.8L, GLI or diesel housings. |
| Volkswagen Jetta | 2019–2021 | 1.4L turbocharged gasoline inline-four | Mk7 sedan; non-hybrid; original air-cleaner assembly; 6-speed manual / 8-speed automatic; front-wheel drive | Assigned screw in the original 1.4L air-cleaner assembly, including housing 5QM129607C where fitted. Excludes GLI's separate 2.0L application. |
| Volkswagen Golf | 2019–2021 | 1.4L turbocharged gasoline inline-four | Mk7 / Mk7.5 hatchback; original 1.4L air-cleaner housing; 6-speed manual / 8-speed automatic; front-wheel drive | Original air-cleaner housing fastener assignment; excludes GTI, Golf R, e-Golf and other engines unless separately verified. |
| Volkswagen Golf SportWagen | 2019 | 1.4L turbocharged gasoline inline-four | Wagon; front-wheel drive; original 1.4L air-cleaner housing; 6-speed manual / 8-speed automatic | Assigned 1.4L air-cleaner assembly screw. Excludes 1.8L 4Motion SportWagen and Alltrack from this row. |
| Volkswagen Passat | 2019, 2021 | 2.0L turbocharged gasoline inline-four | NMS sedan; original 2.0L gasoline intake assembly; 6-speed automatic; front-wheel drive | Assigned air-cleaner housing screw; the 2021 original diagram also assigns WHT002087 at the air-mass-sensor screw point. Match the exact installed component and connection. |
Installation and service guidance
Follow the factory procedure for the installed intake assembly. Keep dirt and loose hardware out of the intake while the housing is open. Align the cover, seal and filter correctly before tightening the screws so that the housing is not pulled together unevenly.
Start the screw carefully in its existing receiving thread and use the correct tool. Follow the specified tightening procedure for that connection; excessive tightening can damage the receiving boss. Check the finished assembly for secure seating and reconnect any disturbed ducts or sensor connections using the prescribed procedure.
This listing supplies one screw. The number required varies with the housing and repair. Air-filter elements, complete housings, sensor assemblies, grommets, clamps and other hardware are separate.
