OVERVIEW
Genuine VW/Audi high pressure fuel pump O-ring, part number WHT-005-184. This original sealing ring fits the assigned mechanical high pressure fuel pump mounting connection at the cylinder head. It is supplied individually for renewal of the mounting seal during the applicable pump service.

The ring seals the designated pump mounting joint when installed in the correct location and compressed by the original assembly. Its size and cross-section must match the specified seal position. A ring selected only by visual similarity can be too loose, become pinched or prevent the assembly from seating properly.
This is the pump mounting O-ring, not a complete pump repair kit. Fuel pipe connections, electrical components and other pump interfaces can require different service parts. Confirm the original number for the mounting seal rather than substituting a ring intended for another connection.
Common reasons to replace
Renew a seal that is cut, flattened, distorted, hardened, missing or damaged during disassembly. Pump removal can disturb an existing ring, and reusing a damaged seal can compromise the joint after the pump is refitted.
A leak traced to the pump mounting connection may require a fresh seal after inspection of the mating surfaces. Identify the actual source before ordering: leakage at a fuel-line connection or damage to the pump body is a separate problem and is not repaired by replacing this mounting ring alone.
The O-ring is also a relevant service item when replacing the high pressure pump or completing work that requires its removal. Follow the factory renewal requirements for the vehicle and pump arrangement. A new seal does not correct a damaged sealing groove, cracked housing or mechanical pump fault.
Installation and service notes
Use the factory procedure for the exact engine and pump assembly. Observe the prescribed fuel-system pressure relief and handling requirements before disconnecting fuel components. Allow the assembly to reach the service conditions specified by the repair procedure.
Keep dirt out of the pump mounting area and open connections. Remove the old seal completely and inspect its groove and mating surface for debris, scoring or damage. Clean the connection using the method permitted by the factory instructions.
Fit the correct O-ring without stretching it excessively, twisting it or cutting it against an edge. Use only the preparation or lubricant specified for this seal by the service procedure; seal color alone does not establish its material or chemical compatibility.
Seat the pump in its intended position without trapping the ring. Follow the prescribed fastener sequence and tightening specification, and replace any additional hardware or connection parts that the factory procedure identifies as single-use.
Do not apply a generic tightening value to the pump fasteners or use the fasteners to force a misaligned pump into place. Inspect the installation if the assembly does not seat normally. Connection type and service requirements can change with engine or pump revisions.
After assembly, complete the required leak and operating checks. Inspect the serviced connection and any other fittings disturbed during the repair. Order separate pump hardware, line seals or related components as required; this listing supplies one original mounting O-ring.
