OVERVIEW
Genuine VW/Audi Transmission Drain and Fill Plug
WHT-005-282 is the genuine metal service plug used at specified transmission drain or fill locations. Its nominal M22×1.5 thread means a 22 mm thread diameter and 1.5 mm pitch. Use it only at the port assigned this exact part number; a matching-looking plug elsewhere in the transmission may have a different function or design.
This listing supplies one individual plug without a sealing washer. The original archive photograph shows the part from two views for identification; it does not represent two plugs per purchased unit. The required sealing washer, fluid, filter, oil pan and other service components are separate.
Technical details
- OEM number: WHT-005-282 / WHT005282.
- Nominal thread: M22×1.5.
- Form: Metal threaded plug with internal hex drive.
- Purpose: Close the assigned transmission service port.
- Quantity: One plug per purchased unit.
- Seal: Required washer supplied separately.
Longitudinal dual-clutch transmissions can contain separate lubricant circuits and more than one service plug. Correct fluid, filling procedure and plug location depend on the exact gearbox. This plug is not a substitute for a gearbox temperature sensor, a different drain plug design or an integrated sealing plug specified at another location.
Common reasons to replace
Replace the plug when its internal drive is rounded, its thread is damaged, its sealing surface is scored or its body is visibly damaged. A plug that cannot be removed and tightened correctly can complicate the next service. Inspect the port and washer when investigating seepage at the attachment.
A leak can also result from a damaged or reused washer, a contaminated sealing surface, incorrect tightening or damaged housing threads. A new plug does not repair a stripped housing or a leaking oil pan gasket. Diagnose the actual leak location and renew the specified sealing parts separately.
Fitment
Match the vehicle, transmission and service port in the table. These entries apply only to the original metal plug locations assigned WHT005282.

Installation and service guidance
Follow the factory service procedure for the exact transmission code. Before draining, identify the correct circuit, drain and fill locations and the required fluid. Confirm that the filling point can be accessed and serviced. Keep the vehicle in the required position and follow the prescribed temperature and level-check procedure.
Use a correctly fitting internal hex tool, inspect the housing thread and sealing seat, and fit the separately specified washer. Tighten to the factory value for that port and gearbox; do not substitute a generic engine oil drain plug torque. Avoid applying unapproved sealants or making changes to the plug.
After completing the required filling and level checks, inspect the serviced port for leakage. Check the transmission oil pan and other disturbed components separately. This plug closes its assigned port; it does not change the transmission’s fluid capacity, service interval or filling requirements.
