OVERVIEW
Genuine VW/Audi WHT-005-749 is an individual fitted bolt for the assigned rear suspension trailing-arm connection. It replaces the specified original fastener during trailing-arm or rear wheel-bearing-housing service on the confirmed configurations below.
Technical details and what is included
- Factory number: WHT-005-749 / WHT005749.
- Component: fitted hex-head rear suspension bolt.
- Factory nominal designation: M14 × 1.5 × 15 × 45.
- Quantity supplied: one individual bolt.
- Single-use hardware: replace after removal; the original part information states that it cannot be reused or reinstalled.
- The photograph shows the individual bolt, threaded shank and flanged hex head.
The nominal designation identifies this fitted fastener; it is not a package or shipping measurement. Similar-looking rear suspension bolts can differ in thread, fitted section and length. WHT005747, WHT005748 and adjacent diagram bolts are separate assignments. Select WHT005749 by the original connection and vehicle parts information.
Application and common reasons to replace
The original Volkswagen service parts tables identify this bolt among the hardware renewed during the assigned rear trailing-arm and wheel-bearing-housing repairs. Those assemblies use several different fasteners; one WHT005749 does not supply an entire axle or trailing-arm hardware set.
- The original bolt has been removed during trailing-arm or rear knuckle service.
- The installed fastener has damaged threads or a damaged drive head.
- Inspection identifies corrosion or other damage that makes the bolt unsuitable for service.
- The repair procedure requires fresh hardware when the assigned suspension joint is disturbed.
A loose connection, damaged bushing, fractured arm or worn wheel bearing requires inspection and the appropriate repair. Replacing this bolt alone does not establish the cause of suspension noise or correct damage to the surrounding assembly.
Vehicle fitment
Fitment requires the original suspension connection assigned WHT005749. Match the vehicle's VIN, rear axle configuration and current parts assignment before ordering. A service campaign's eligibility and free-repair coverage are separate from replacement-part selection and must be checked with the vehicle manufacturer.

Installation and service guidance
Support the vehicle and suspension using the prescribed workshop procedure. Inspect the mating threads, bushing sleeve, arm and knuckle before installing the replacement. Use a new bolt after removal and renew any other single-use nuts or bolts required by the specific repair.
Follow the factory procedure for the exact connection, including suspension positioning and any required torque-plus-angle sequence. Do not select a tightening value from a different rear suspension fastener merely because it has a similar head or thread diameter. Complete any alignment or inspection steps required after the associated suspension work.
This listing supplies one bolt. Trailing arms, bushings, knuckles, wheel bearings, nuts and other fasteners are separate.
